Today we’d like to introduce you to Rossana Rojas.
Rossana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a Puerto Rican Hairstylist based in Miami. I basically grew up at the salon, my mom was a hairstylist and my grandmother from my dad’s side, I guess is something that I have in my blood. After I graduate from high school, I move with my mom to Miami and I went to beauty school. Work in a couple of salons as receptionist, assistant till I got behind the chair. After a couple of years, I decided to move back to Puerto Rico where I work in a salon that’s where I got my knowledge on working with texture, wavy and curly hair, making that one of my specialty.
Also, open my own little spot called The Parlour #ahairsalonwithaderbyproblem were all of the girls that work with me were my teammates on my Roller Derby Team. After the hurricane, Maria hit us there, as a single mom and tired of the situation of the island I decided to move back to Miami with my son and pets, where I continue my career as a Hairstylist in Junior & Hatter and also playing Roller Derby with the Miami team.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is full of obstacles and challenges especially as a single providing parent, and that’s how we make it work and learn from it.
Please tell us about Rossana Rojas Hairstylist at Junior & Hatter.
I’m a hairstylist, I pretty much do everything from women, men and kids hair; keratin treatments, hair color, balayage, hair painting, fantasy color, highlights, but my specialty is hair cutting… wavy hair, curly hair, straight hair, fine hair, coarse hair, bobs, shags, mullets, bangs creating movement and enhancing the natural texture in all type of hair, creating that effortless hair easy to take care at home. To me every haircut is an experience.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Been at summer camp, where I met one of my best longest friends. We would make so many pranks on the overnights. Fun times!!!
