Today we’d like to introduce you to Myriam Sandler.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When my daughter was just over a year old, she refused to eat solids. She would mostly drink milk and rarely eat pureed meals. Feeding time was always a struggle but she was growing well and gaining weight. Nevertheless, as a new mom, the fact that my child wasn’t eating well was tearing me apart. After trying everything, I fell into sensory play, figuring she might have a sensitivity to textures. I started exposing her more to the textures she was most comfortable with, such as water. Slowly we transitioned to those she wasn’t as familiar with, like colored spaghetti.
After a short period of time, I noticed incredible progress and was so overwhelmed by the experience that I felt compelled to share it with other new mothers. Mothercould was born as a platform to share our play experiences and the name represented the empowering accomplishment I felt in doing so. After about six months, life happened and I went on hiatus for two years. With the birth of my second child, I decided to get back into it, this time committing to more formal quick video tutorials. I realized that as mother of two, the short video format was the social media content I was most attracted to. I started experimenting and sharing my own sensory recipes and, a little over a year and a half later, here we are. Mothercould is now a global community of parents sharing their day to day at home play activities and recipes. It’s been a special journey getting to this point and I am very excited by the doors this platform has opened. Connecting with families and helping parents get through their day is a humbling responsibility.
Has it been a smooth road?
Overall, it has been a genuinely smooth road. I am very passionate about sharing simple at home activities that everyone can do with items from around the house. The more I shared, the more others re-shared my ideas. That has been my path to organic growth.
Please tell us about Mothercould.
Mothercould is a social media platform that specializes in short video tutorials of sensory recipes, toys made from recycled items and easy at home kids activities put together using typical household items. I am most proud of the community of parents and educators we have built. We bounce ideas off each other, connect on various topics and come together for the good of our children. My videos are visually captivating, quick to watch and easy to follow.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The beauty of Mothercould is that it can be done from anywhere in the world, but Miami offers particularly good weather for year-round outdoor play. The bright colors of the city have inspired the vibrant nature of my content.
