Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Brandt.
The story starts with Dan Brandt teething on an ivory teething ring, made of billiard ball scraps.
Dan’s father, Wes Brandt, was the National Service Manager for Brunswick Bowling and Billiards, and Dan learned the trade from a “service” point of view; it has to work correctly, then it can look pretty. That same view is evident in the production of tables by Billiards by Brandt. The process is simple: we sit down and ask the customer, “what do you need, what do you want?” Then we shut up and listen. The customer will tell you exactly what they need and want. All you have to do then is give it to them.
Billiards By Brandt tables, grace the finest hotels/resorts such as the Fontainebleau, and Boca West Country Club. On any given day, you may find Brandt working on tables at the Fisher Island Vanderbilt Mansion, the billiard table in the Miami Heat locker room, or one of South Florida’s ultra-exclusive penthouse condos. You may also find him donating or repairing tables for the Police Athletic League or City Recreation Departments.
Billiards is the great equalizer – income, race, gender, national origin – it is all the same; the table takes over. Billiards By Brandt provides the greatest gift; a time where family and friends can spend time together.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Many city recreation programs, half-way houses, and other charitable organizations just do not have the money for a pool table but want one so the staff and participants can interact together. Billiards by Brandt is on constant look out for used tables which they can refurbished and then donated to community organizations. It takes time and effort, but this organization deserves the best possible quality equipment.
Billiards By Brandt – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The recent manufacture of a custom table provides a good illustration. Manufacturing was in South Florida and the customer was in the Washington, D.C. area. The customer had an idea of the desired size and general shape of the table. We provided multiple sketches of table design, When one design was picked, Billiards By Brandt sent wood and finish samples for approval, along with regular photos of the construction process. Samples were then sent of cloth color approval, as were of playing equipment options. The company vehicle was loaded, and Dan Brandt traveled with the table from Miami to Washington, D.C. and personally did the installation. Finally, a photo book was ordered for the client of the construction process, with the last photo of the client “breaking” the first set of balls.
