Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Terenzio.
Carly, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My photography journey really started about two years ago, when my dear friend Liza contacted me to take a few photos of her and her daughter at Miami’s beautiful Merry Christmas Park in the Grove. I eagerly met the two on the morning of May 8th with nothing but my iPhone in hand and a passion for photography in my heart. After a wonderful morning in the park, capturing the many laughs and smiles of mother and daughter, I went home to edit and send my favorites from the day to mom, Liza, that evening. She was over-the-moon, and so was I.
The final result left me wondering if I could possibly turn my passion into a business, so I started doing family photography as my side hustle and fell in love with every step of the process. I think my favorite part is turning over a completed galley to a client. I love being able to give something so personal and meaningful to a family and hearing back that they love their images just as much as I do. I’ve grown so much since May 8th 2018 and have come a long way from the use of an iPhone as my method of capturing memories. I’m proud to say that this year I was able to turn my side hustle into my main hustle and I’m now doing family photography full time.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My road has been far from smooth but at least it hasn’t been boring! I think all obstacles & challenges are placed in our paths as lessons. Without overcoming the challenging hard times personally and professionally, I would not have the tools to be successful today.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I’m a natural light photographer specializing in beach photoshoots. I take more of a lifestyle approach to family photography, capturing candid moments as well as poised portraits. I believe in creating beautiful, timeless images that families can share and display for a lifetime.
