Today we’d like to introduce you to Daney Cabrera.
Daney, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
During the summer of 2016, my family and I traveled to Europe on a family vacation for ten days. We visited several Greek and Italian islands. Upon our return immediately after, I started feeling very sick. Some blamed on jet lag, other food poisoning. Until this day, there was never a concrete diagnosis. I spent ten days in bed going through High fevers, vomiting, diarrhea, migraines. Almost as if my body was shifting and detoxing in the most painful ways. I stayed home and allowed all to passed through me. When all was over, I felt inspired to discover the connection between body, mind and soul. I wanted to understand where our food came from.
All of a sudden, I cared about my body deeply. Almost as if it and I were always disconnected and now we became one. I remember waking up in the morning and hearing birds sing. Where the birds never there? Or were they always there and never heard them? My whole life changed. I noticed the sky, the trees, I was more in tune with nature and all of God’s perfect creation. I would cry everyday seeing how animals were transported to slaughterhouses. I felt this incredible connection between every living being and myself. Almost as if they were part of me. Felt amazing moments of bliss.
Unexplainable happiness without an exterior motive. I wasn’t able to eat any animal products after that. I realized that on my plate, there was someone that didn’t want to die and I didn’t want to add that pain and suffering to my body nor contribute to planet deforestation. I was conscious of every decision I would make. I felt present. I changed my diet completely to plant-based. My body’s energy changed. I had cleared thoughts. I felt creative, happier, positive, fearless, loose, unattached. A new life experienced. Felt in love with every part of me. Started practicing yoga and meditation on a daily basis. Reading lots of books. Gained great knowledge, almost as if my brain was rewiring and I was functioning on a new hardware upgrade. Just beautiful.
After 15 years selling successful real estate I utilized my experience and decided to open a small business that would assist the community finds the connection between themselves and all of creation. A place to unite our bodies, mind and soul as one. A place for plant-based eatery, a sanctuary for farm animals saved from slaughter and a peaceful yard where we could practice mindful exercises, yoga, breathwork, workshops and meditation. I had this huge belief in humanity. We all have this amazing power and we don’t even know it. We have been programmed to be part of a world full of cultural programming, Freedom of the mind and connection with our hearts is all I ever wanted for Aguacate to inspire and teach. Its been a year since we opened. We have rescued many animals with beautiful stories behind them. Their personalities are not any different than our dogs and cats. They are smart, loving and grateful. Our food continues to be loved and enjoyed by our community. Our free workshops are helping many achieve a higher state of consciousness and health. Love will win. I am here to bring peace to this world and it all started with me.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road wasn’t smooth. Like any other change. It had resistance. Seven months of constant city denials for permits. Several neighbors complained. Code enforcement issues. Our concept was very different and not understood by others. I ran out of funds. As always, it all worked out. Every step and every challenge was teaching me something new about myself.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Aguacate Sanctuary of Love – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Aguacate sits on an agriculture acre lot. It’s very unique because we are a fruit stand, juice bar with a plant nursery, animal sanctuary and grow most of our herbs. We are not only here to teach the community to eat healthier whole foods but also assisting to raise our levels on human consciousness and see the animals we currently eat for more than just foods. Meeting them and observing their personalities will help us awaken our soul to make the connection between ourselves and all of creation.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love our City. I love this melting pot of cultures full of love. Our city needs to calm, breathe and be present. We are obsessed with control, expectations and deadlines. This leads to a high negative surroundings and negative encounters.
