Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Penaloza.
Kelly, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story began about 13 years ago, I was hosting/promoting doing marketing for the sobe party scene. There was not a party I was not involved with or knew off. I started slowly attending LGTB parties and always wanted to help and be a part of them. During this time, I made very important connections with Pandora Events and Icandee. Most specifically, Lynn Bove who may Rest In Peace. Lynn quickly adopted me and gave me the opportunity of life to host during lesbian events!! As she would call me her Spicy Latina!!! Since then, I have been crowned with Miami’s number one party ANIMAL!!! There is not an event in our community that I miss out on. I believe that the more support we show, the more we can grow. And that has been the purpose of Chicky Lulu Productions. To help, promote, educate or guide in the correct way for anyone in need in our community. Not just in parties but in any aspect. I am your to go girl!!!! Don’t forget to say Chicky at the Door for discounts!!
Has it been a smooth road?
When I say hard work pays off, I mean every word!! And I don’t mean monetary!!! I feel pride and joy in helping others and I have had to work a lot to gain people’s trust in our industry. For people to give me the opportunity to host an event or be the face of new organizations!! Most of my struggles come from having a job that pays my bills and having second “job” passion to give me life. That balance has been very difficult for me. My work schedule is very demanding and I had plenty of sleepless nights. Plenty of missed job opportunities because I would have to split my life in two. I also lost relationships friends and lovers who can’t understand what I do.
Please tell us about Chicky Lulu.
Chicky Lulu Productions started as an event planner/organizer. We have now managed to help a business grow. Using Chicky as the face of new companies, I have been able to use social media to promote and encourage people to use the services provided. For example, dental offices, car dealerships, construction companies and more. I am proud to say that one of the best feelings in doing something you love is that I can work for charities, fundraisers giving back to the community and for free!!! Yess free!! As a small company created to help others, there is no better feeling than that!!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
This is Miami!!!!! Yesss for me, it’s a perfect location almost God sent. If you are from Miami, you know we celebrate any occasion no matter what it is, even hurricanes are pachangas for us! Our industry is big enough for any event company. I would definitely recommend it to a new business. We have the diversity in cultures and the amazing sunny weather all year long.
