Today we’d like to introduce you to Camila Alfonso.
Camila, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Toronto, Canada – 2012. The place and time where my career officially began. I transitioned from being a volunteer creating gift bags, and greeting guests to being hired as an assistant event coordinator and over time becoming an event planner & director. In the ten years of being in the event industry, my parents have always encouraged me to become a business owner. They believed in my talent, passion and potential; although I believed in myself too, I was not quite ready to make that jump just yet.
This all changed three years ago when I made the impulsive decision to move to Miami. Within a couple of months, I was settled in. After meeting some of my now event industry colleagues, I realized they too once had the same doubts and fears. One year ago, I founded Events By Camila. I decided it was time to jump!
Has it been a smooth road?
My biggest challenge thus far was having to start from scratch building a network in Miami after having spent ten years having a professional relationship with colleagues in Toronto. Luckily, I have been able to overcome this challenge by attending entrepreneurship development groups available throughout the city. Slowly but surely, I have encountered trusted colleagues who have now also become my friends.

Events By Camila is a full-service event planning and production firm servicing corporate, social, and private clientele. We create memorable experiences for the event attendees and make our clients feel at ease as we take care of life’s special events from conception to execution. We also work with our clients to customize services as needed and are happy to manage different budgets as we understand each event is unique.
Events By Camila also specialize in day-of coordinator services. This service facilitates the client by joining the planning stage the last three to one month prior to the event to organize all logistics to ensure a successful event is executed as planned.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity in Miami. It is vibrant, colorful and artistic. I love finding inspiration in our gardens, beaches and people. As an event professional, there are endless opportunities as Miami is a major stage for music, fashion, art, culture, sports and tourism.
