Meet Aranel Vivarini

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aranel Vivarini.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Aranel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The love for photography started as a Kid, I was drawn to art at a very young age but never pursued it until my middle school years. I got my first camera as a Christmas gift, and I started taking photos of landscapes, I started becoming my own muse and creating all sorts of creative concepts, I started to take my camera to concerts and take photos there, at that point I never saw it as a career because I was young, but I knew I loved it.

I didn’t understand what any photography term meant at one point but I kept shooting, it took me years to understand how light works and how to find beauty in those ordinary things, to find the right composition or even understand what composition was but I think that love and passion for photography has carried me here, to where I am today, in a place where my passion is stronger than ever, a place where I can confidently say that this is what I want to be able to do for the rest of my life, this is something I want to teach my kids one day and carry that for as long as I can and in a place where the ups and downs of photography don’t seem as scary as they once felt.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say it has been a smooth road at all, I think pursuing a career in the creative field is one of the most robust career paths you could take, but with that, it also comes all the lessons you have to learn. I think a very important factor of it is learning to love the process, you can’t get to where you want without loving the ups and downs. My biggest set back has always been not believing in my skills but I came through that with the people around me who would speak life into my dreams, they believed in me in days that I didn’t believe in myself, they pushed me to be better.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m a creative freelance photographer, I don’t think I can label myself as a portrait photographer because I shoot more than that but I do love shooting people in a creative way, I love to create simple yet beautiful images and that’s what sets me apart. I think photographing people can sometimes be complex but to take that away and present photos of people, couples, landscapes, live concerts, brands in a way that not only translates as beautiful but also simple is the biggest set point. My biggest goal as a photographer and what I’m proud of the most is to be able to translate a message to the viewers, as an artist our job is to make the viewers feel an emotion and if I’m able to do that then my job has been done

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I think the proudest moment of my career has been to look back at my life and realize how much my life has changed since I decided to serve at my local church, that’s when my photography had a turning point in my life. My creativity and passion took a big turn for the good. Being able to shoot at conference, at church events and even at Sunday Service has being a very humbling experience and one I’m grateful and proud of.
