Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Higgins.
Jessica, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m obsessed by connecting people with the ideas that will fuel their next positive growth. I became well known in the business world for developing the first consulting methods that allowed people and businesses to collectively align for greater outcomes. I’ve created an award-winning marketing agency, helped rebrand and restructure some of America’s greatest Fortune 100 companies, wrote a best-selling book on communication, and even built my own fund of funds, which I currently manage to invest intellectual and financial capital into building the next great companies.
It can sound a bit scattered, but being an agent for change is a mission that keeps life diverse and interesting for me. I spot trends and try to change them for the better. It’s an evolving experiment.
Lately, my focus is on financial services. I am investing and building a firm that provides retail investors with the ability to participate in the same advanced, leading-edge investment products and strategies that institutional investors and endowments utilize to deliver superior asset returns. This was borne from a deep concern for my generation because we are not building wealth like our grandparents and previous ancestors and if you play through, the current American generation does not conclude favorably unless we take steps now to alter its course. This issue may not appear for at least a decade, but now is when we need to work toward fixing it. For example, my generation is not becoming homeowners; an investment policy that means they will need to work beyond retirement age.
I have enough deep experience in tech, fintech, finance, marketing and culture to know how to help fix the problem that it seems obvious for me to do so.
Has it been a smooth road?
I’m way too kind and I care way too much about everything. It can be a problem; I choose to view it as an advantage that includes many lessons.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a change agent in marketing and finance. Most recently, proud of my work in alternative finance as it is where the market is going and an interesting set of opportunities for generating wealth while being less at mercy to public markets.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Having lived throughout the US, Miami Beach is the only place I can live like I’m on vacation in my everyday life. I work so much and vacations can occur in a matter of hours in Miami. You don’t need to travel. As an entrepreneur, that is brilliant for your productivity.
