Today we’d like to introduce you to Jean Castro, Mari Rivera , Chris Perez, Christian Roberts.
Jean , Mari, Chris, Christian, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
JC: The Polaroid Notebook began as a solo project of mine. I was in another band at the time, and The Polaroid Notebook was an artistic outlet for me to write something heartfelt, and atmospheric. I eventually wanted to expand these songs into something more than just myself and an acoustic guitar. I met Mari online and we began performing as a two piece. Drums and Guitar. We did quite a few shows all over Florida until we wanted to expand even more and brought in Chris on bass. Our most recent member was another guitarist, Christian.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
JC: Our first EP on Spotify were all songs I wrote by myself and then added the other instruments after the fact. Our newest single “Spacesuit” and The rest of the songs on our new EP coming out soon were all songs we wrote organically as a band. There’s a definite shift in tone, and that is the collective sound we all bring together. We write music as a journey to find people who feel like us. For People who spend nights looking at the ceiling fans, for people who have ever felt left out, and broken hearted. We will help you pick up the pieces.
Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
You don’t need the most expensive tools to be able to complete the job. People will connect with you no matter what. Just work with what you have, and focus on your raw creative self, and show the world what you have.
