Today we’d like to introduce you to Mirca Colon.
Mirca, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was never into sports being younger or into fitness until after having my three kids and moving to Florida. Fitness came after. Out of my two sisters, I was always the chunky one. Working full time and Juggling three kids and a household. I was always feeling tired, overweight and embarrassed of my own body. I decided to love myself and put fitness a priority to my life.
I Joined many different gyms in my area that have helped me in different ways. I became a member at (evolution fitness of Wellington owned by Alex Kelly) after 1.5/2 yrs. I was asked if I would like to be a personal trainer and work at her gym. She saw that I had it in me to empower others through fitness and health. I become NASM certified and started my new career. Since then we have opened up a new gym in Wellington CAT5 Fitness Gym which I am a co-founder & expanded to my own personal training business (Mirca Fitness/personal trainer)
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of my major challenges is that I am very meticulous when it comes to my clients and their goals, which can take away from my personal life. But in the end, nothing brings me more satisfaction than seeing the look on their faces when they reach the goal they have been working so hard for, my personal life just seems to balance out.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
As a personal trainer, I specialize in each individual to surpass any of their goals they have set while training with me. Weight loss/fat loss, bodybuilding and Specially Functional training. Functional training teaches my clients to get stronger in their everyday movement patterns by learning how to workout without using all of the equipment commercial gyms offer and focusing more on free weights.
What makes me stand the most is that I listen to what each of my client’s needs and wants are. I can push an athletic/advanced individual to the next level and I can make someone who has never stepped into a gym feel comfortable enough to continue to work with me as a trainer.
