Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Agudelo.
Stephanie Agudelo was born in Wayne, New Jersey, but was raised in Colombia until the late 90s and then moved back to America. Her family thought it was best to move to Florida for the tropical climate and vibrant surroundings. Throughout her life in Florida and Colombia, she developed an obsession with color and photography. Her obsession with color grew stronger when her mother dressed her in various monochrome outfits. She found clothes and colors as ways of expressing herself. Since learning the English language was a struggle at first, Stephanie found comfort in communicating through her photography.
This passion was intensified during her teenage years and further developed when she opted to take her Bachelors Degree in Photography at the University Of South Florida. After completing her degree, Stephanie wanted to expand her photographic practice. She wanted to bring color in a living form to fashion and contemporary art, with an emphasis on collaboration and a distinctive personal style. In order to make this happen, Stephanie moved to St. Petersburg, Fl to pursue her work due to the established art community. She now collaborates with numerous makeup arts, hairstylists, and designers to create the images in her portfolio.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Building my portfolio wasn’t the easiest. I had a lot of people say no to collaborate when I started out. I used my friends alot for my ideas and had to learn to do hair or makeup if needed or had my friends help. But now I have talented creatives helping me achieve my ideas to the greater heights.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m a photographer that specializes in creative portraiture. I’m known for my colors, fashion, and over the top ideas in my photos. I love being able to create and meet creatives.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I wish I made this portfolio when I was in Art school. I went to art school to bring art and fashion together. Unfortunately, I had a lot of restrictions which lead to put this idea in the back burner until I graduated.
