Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Grant.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Natalie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a young woman born and raised in Miami, Florida, the pressure of being beautiful and perfect caused me to struggle with what being beautiful really looks like. It led me to spend money that I didn’t have on almost over every over the counter product for your skin, did studies for dermatologist, tried antibiotics, and still nothing! At one point I was spending some of my savings to keep up with fashion trends so I can be what people consider an influencer.
One of the breakthroughs for me was being able to intern for Dwayne Wade’s stylist (Calyann Barnett) and see what happens in the world of celebrities. This opportunity gave me insight to understand that not all that “glitters is gold.” Another breakthrough I had, when it comes to skincare, was going to school to get my license as a facial specialist. I’ve never seen my skin so healthy. I received a hands on training how to care for different skin types. Also, being a skincare expert at Sephora for several years helped me to put what I’ve learned into practice.
At this point, you might be thinking that your situation is different, unique and nobody has your same issue… I too thought the same thing! That’s what motivated me to find this solution that works for people like you and I.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The journey has not been smooth at all. I struggled with starting Natalie Gail Beauty because I felt like because my skin wasn’t where I wanted it to be that people wouldn’t want to do business with me. Also, I would question if I knew enough about skincare to help people. Those thoughts held me back for awhile. So mentally I was battling myself and it took me awhile to get started. One day, a friend of mine, reminded me that was what made me unique. People can relate to me. We would be on the journey together.
My last confirmation was at a TD Jakes conference last April and the theme was Jump! Well, I did exactly that and my business was up and running by the end of June. Everything fell into place and it was definitely my time.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Natalie Gail Beauty story. Tell us more about the business.
Natalie Gail Beauty is result driven and specializes in all things beauty. My primary focus right now is skincare. Although, I still can do my thing when it comes to personal shopping and styling as well. Lol.
I’ve always been passionate about empowering women through beauty. It used to be solely fashion and styling, but I wanted to expand my reach on helping women. I feel most proud of myself, when people look at themselves in the mirror and they love the glow (I’m known for that glow) that they see or when clients tell me that a tip I gave them changed their skin for the better. I love the confidence that I can help others have when it comes to themselves.
In the near future, I would like to market myself as a melanin skincare expert.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t think luck has played a role in my life. I believe I’ve had favor and everything that was supposed to happen, happened for me and to me.
