Meet Paul Jacober of Jacober Creative in South Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Jacober.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Also affectionately referred to as “The Face of the Place,” I’m one of the driving creative forces at Jacober Creative. A California boy at heart, I spent my formative years studying Journalism at Pepperdine University in Malibu. Later, I would go on to hone my design skills in New York’s early 90’s publishing scene, including Vibe, New York Magazine and a now defunct postcard design company (long live print). After realizing I was a little more SoBe than L.E.S. (lower east side), I moved to Miami where I started building up a strong roster of clients in the arts, non-profits and later real estate… the foundation of the current iteration of Jacober Creative located on Lincoln Road, South Beach.

Our client catalog now boasts Miami’s premier cold pressed juice company JugoFresh, the Town of Surfside (a two-time award winning marketing campaign) plus the Frost Science Museum and a young upstart Tennis player by the name of Venus Williams (bucket list…check!)

When I haven’t been weighing the benefits of circles vs. triangles, I’m constantly discovering new destinations, preferably those with a distinct music scene and a strong architectural presence. Should I get lost, you’ll find me bopping to French Disco in a signature blue shirt, asking what’s for dessert (preferably vegan).

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing is easy. Every day, week, month and year poses challenges: some typical small business challenges, some specific to where we live (Miami is crazy, but we love her nonetheless). It’s difficult at times (the daily routine) but ultimately rewarding because we get to work with a creative & supportive team that all want to see each other succeed.

Accolades, press, awards are all nice but they don’t sustain a business. Hard work does. So we do the daily grind. Sometimes 7 days a week.

Jacober Creative – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We’re a full service design & marketing firm.

We specialize in branding, logo development, online & digital solutions, PR now and most importantly… ideas.

We’re known for out-of-the-box creativity whether it’s for clients and or for ourselves. We make sure to partake in non-client based creative outlets as well. We recently self-published the adult coloring book, High Tides, Tales of Mermaids, Mayhem & Miami Beach. And we’re also in production for an exhibition of our Instagram summer movie series to take place at the Miami Beach Cinemateque this fall.

I’m proud of the impact we’ve made in Miami. If you’ve lived in Miami for more than 10 years, you’ve most likely come across our work, because we’ve developed ideas for Miami International Film Festival, Miami International Children’s Film Festival, Miami Jewish Film Festival, Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, Miami Art Museum (Now the Perez Art Museum), The Rubell Family Collection and their hotels, etc. Our diversity of clientele is really impressive.

I think we inspire each other internally in the studio and even outsiders (admirers) to take chances, evolve, reinvent and work extremely hard.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’m proud of so many things, from our longevity, to specific design projects, to receiving awards (Arango Design, Flagler Awards to name two); but probably this year’s offsite for the studio, which we’re flying all 7 team members out-of-state for a 5 day team building & motivational retreat is the proudest moment.

To get to a point like this is exciting and unexpected.

It’s only the beginning… 🙂
