Today we’d like to introduce you to Sacha Roude.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Haiti to a Haitian mother and a Russian father. When I was six years old, I was sent to live with my uncle and grandmother in Miami, after both my parents passed away. I started getting into trouble and hanging out with the wrong crowd. My grades started to go south as I started getting into my early teens. In hopes of changing my ways, my grandmother sent me to New Jersey to live with my cousins and other uncle. It took a while but I started to find myself but not without some bumps on the road. While in high school in New Jersey, I attended an all-girls Catholic School and it was not until my senior year during a Spiritual Retreat that I found God. Ironically, I grew up my entire life in a Catholic household where I learned to love and appreciate God but I was always angry with him because He took my parents away. I would see my friends with their parents bonding, traveling, and just being a family and from my perspective, I didn’t and would never have that. I questioned Him a lot,” Why would you take not one but both of them?” But during the retreat, I realized that I actually did have that and more, all along just not the way others have it. I have it in the form of a grandmother and uncle.
After graduating high school, I moved back to Miami to attend college. I earned my Bachelor’s at FIU and then went on to get my Masters in Health Service Administration from Barry University, while gaining experience working full-time in the Emergency Department at a hospital. I worked in administration at a hospital or Healthcare setting for over ten years and they were some great years. I learned a lot; I experienced more than I imagined I would, and I witnessed more than the average person can say they have. It was during this time that I also made great, amazing, long-term friendships. *Shout out to my husband, whom I met while we both worked at the hospital.
I have always had an innate desire to help people; whether to teach them to drive, to help them get a job, help them get healthier. During my last year in Corporate America, Human Resources offered me a great position where I was asked to promote Wellness Initiatives and lead their new healthy eating program among other responsibilities. Although I happily accepted, it didn’t come without some alarming concerns about recent layoffs/restructuring in the department which made the future uncertain. Imagine you walk into work not knowing if it would be your last day. Although I was assured my position was safe, I did not enjoy that experience at all; it stuck with me even till this day.
The combination of my desire to always help others, watching the investor/landlord perspective through my uncle’s investment properties, and corporate uncertainty, I decided to get my Real Estate license. I’ve always been amazed by shows like Fixer Upper and Property Brothers, how they help people get into their first home. Finally, I decided to bite the bullet and leave the corporate world to pursue real estate full time.
With prior knowledge and the various training classes my company Real Estate Sales Force provides, I was able to hit the ground running. I also still consider myself fairly new to the industry compared to others. I’m proactive in learning from other avenues such as watching YouTube videos, listening to podcasts like Gary Vee on Marketing/Branding and of course listening to successful Real Estate entrepreneurs for tips and continuously reading about the market. I’m on all social media platforms even the new thing Tik Tok because let’s be honest… Social Media will drive your business to another level!! Believe it or not I’m shy but I know I need to get in-front of the camera in order to be successful. Even though I learn from others, I do tend to have my own style or put special twist to what I do, I don’t mind being silly.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being in the Real Estate business is scary because it is unpredictable. Coming from the Corporate World, you know every two weeks you get a paycheck. In this business, you can have a great month and the next not so great. The hustle is real; you have to put in the work and you have to be consistent.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I have done business in Homestead, Kendall, Little Haiti, and Miami Shores… I will go wherever my clients need me to go. If my clients are happy and fulfilled; I’m happy and fulfilled; I have done my job, a great job.
As I mentioned before, I work under Real Estate Sales Force (RESF) as a Realtor. I can be found on all of my social media platforms including Pinterest and LinkedIn as SachaSellsMiami. I started a podcast late last year, Sacha Sells Miami, currently I am setting up for the second season where I will be focusing more on the day to day of Real Estate and a bit more on just overall growth. I am also updating my website www.sachasellsmiami.com , it should be ready by mid-January. I currently specialize in Rentals and Selling or Buying Residential Property. At some point, I would like to transition into the Commercial/Investment side of Real Estate. I love working at RESF because the Broker, Jorge Guerra gives his time to teach all of his agents. You have the opportunity to sit with him and get feedback, brainstorm and find ways to get better at your craft.
The thing that sets me apart from others is the fact that I have my own, raw, unscripted version and way of doing things. I speak French and Creole which helps when working in areas such as Little Haiti, North Miami and Miami Gardens. My uncle is a local investor in the Little Haiti area so I used that to my advantage and started an Airbnb in three of his studio apartments. It has allowed me to help some travelers find permanent residence here in Miami.
Most people only show their real estate life but I like to show it all… of course, I show my business but I also want people to know that I’m relatable and enjoy doing the same things they might do. I like to show me working out at the gym trying to do double-unders which is not that easy to do, my family and how silly we are by doing little skits on Tik Tok, pics of me skydiving, white water rafting, friends, etc… I like to show a little of everything. I like to be silly and make people laugh.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Miami is the city to start Real Estate!!! Everyone from all over the world are moving here. The weather alone is a major factor as to why people are moving… it’s 100 degrees all year round… and everywhere you look homes, apartments, condos are being built… people are buying, selling, and investing!!!! The possibilities here are endless and there is a little something for everyone to make money.
