Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Dean.
Kelly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started the Laudy Daudy last year. I shop the best items from our community to make it easy for you to share and show your love of Fort Lauderdale. This idea started when I would enjoy our neighborhood markets and see the amazing products our neighbors were making. I love shopping the local markets with family and friends. I would meet so many of our neighbors and discover the items they are making out of love and creating their own success. They are experts in their own fields.
This is when a light bulb shined bright for me. Everything I have done and worked on in my past brought me to create the Laudy Daudy, a local gift box company with curated items from Sunny Fort Lauderdale. I have worked in design, production and retail for years. With all my experiences, I knew I could create a place to showcase our outstanding local products. When I owned a children’s store, one of our many amazing services that we provided to our customers was to package your gifts. You could call us with your budget and the age of the child you were shopping for. We would put together a package for you ready to pick up. If you preferred to come in, we would always help you pick out that special gift. You would leave with a perfectly wrapped gift ready to go to any celebration. Our customers loved this! We knew everyone is busy and packaging up that thoughtful gift for a customer always made everyone’s day a little easier for them. This was our little way of making our customer’s day a bit sunnier.
Working for others for years then for myself led me to know the best thing for me and my family was creating a career that I was proud of and that gave me time to spend with my family. My husband, Gamma, is my support for our family and the Laudy Daudy. My kids, Jameson and Aria, are my “assistants”. They accompany me on some deliveries between their school and activities. They love to come with me to markets to discover new products. I am lucky to have had such an amazing support system in creating the Laudy Daudy. I can mix my time between work and family. My kids see how they can too create their own path through life doing what they love while having a balance for what is important.
Has it been a smooth road?
All the obstacles in my life has brought me to where I am today. I know it is cliché, but I would not change a thing.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Soon we will have a permanent space at the Sistrunk Kollective at the soon to be opening Sistrunk Marketplace. I am so excited to start in this new space! The Kollective is a boutique with local businesses. It is a perfect fit for myself and the Laudy Daudy. I hope the Laudy Daudy grows to be an essential part of our community. I want visitors to discover our area with a box in their hotel rooms with all the essentials they need to enjoy their stay, the holiday gift sent to an office that excites all the coworkers and I want anyone who receives a box to love it as much as I love to putting it together.
We live in a big city, but sometimes it still feels like a small town. We love that about Fort Lauderdale and the Laudy Daudy keeps that small town feel with our boxes. While supporting our local businesses and keeping you familiar with your neighbors.
