Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Keller.
Thomas, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I got started as an artist at the ripe old age of 45 when I experienced a spiritual awakening. Oh, as a child, my artistic nature was expressing itself but when at the age of 10 my family discovered I was color blind and as a result of the teasing that followed(older brothers) I shut it all down. After this spiritual awakening, the creative impulse poured through like a dam breaking on a river. Following intuition, I started painting with pastels and loved every bit of it. The textures of finger painting in a dry medium was and still is very exciting.
After a couple of years, I moved from Los Angeles to Atlanta, Georgia. One day I had the impulse to pick up my chainsaw and carve/sculpt on a log. It turned out to be beautiful and was quickly bought by a friend. I followed that up with many fine art sculptures in wood in the feminine figurative style which have sold very well in galleries.
I take great joy in creating inspiring, beautiful art.
I call myself a “truth seeker”, traveling the world, studying the ancient cultures of the Egyptians, Incans, Kenyans, Mayans, Olmecs, and Native Americans to discover the underlying laws that govern our lives and how to set ourselves free! By applying these deep truths, I completely transformed my life from a wandering loner to a loving husband, adoring father, successful artist, and now author always following the internal call to overcome.
I have never let age or society define or limit my creative aspirations. I began creating art in January of 2001 at the demand of his soul to wake up and create. My life as a building contractor was no longer big enough for my soul. I create art that encourages people to expand their concepts of themselves, others and their position in the world.
Just as I followed my internal call to create paintings, sculptures and other emblems of beauty, I have followed my intuitive guidance to write a book entitled The MIRROR. I wrote this book with one idea in mind and it quickly changed into a “channeled” book taking on a course of its own.
I have studied twelve years in an Egyptian Mystery School, coupled with my background in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) and Religious Science, I believe I have delivered a clear-cut solution to empower and free individuals in this time of school/mass shootings, racial and political discord and high levels of stress from life in general.
I am currently working on my first piece of performance art based on a series of paintings I created a number of years ago. The theme of the series is that every one of us is a beautiful, spiritual being and be aware not to judge another based on their physical appearance.
Has it been a smooth road?
My artistic career has not always been easy. But I now recognize that all of my struggles have been self-induced. At times I have forced myself to create instead of waiting for genuine inspiration. In each case, the result has been frustration. At other times I was anguished because my pieces were not selling quickly enough. I now know that it was my own negative judgments while my inspiration said to just create these pieces and did not inform me of a timeline for selling them. I use to box myself in by labeling myself as an artist. Now I take great peace in considering myself not just an artist, but a creator. I have watched myself move seamlessly from painting to sculpting, to writing and now to performing.
Life is a complete mind game for me. The more I’ve dropped my judgments the sweeter life has become. I have more love, family, friends, and money with less stress than ever. I intend to continue.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My art business is all about inspiration and not frustration. I create beautiful feminine figurative sculptures in wood that I harvest myself from the forests never cutting live trees. For me, wood is magical in its feminine beauty. I sell online and in galleries.
I also have a remodeling business called Creative Construction Creations. We build with an artist’s eye and care, from standard kitchens and baths to unique creations such as murals and room sculptures.
