Today we’d like to introduce you to Liana Perez.
Liana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hello! My name is Liana Perez, I am 27 years old and I am an Entrepreneur. When I was initially asked to do this interview it truly made me think about what can I use to describe myself in one word, and that’s what came to mind. You see, one of the reasons I started The G&G Code was because I was bullied most of my childhood, so when someone asks you to give yourself a title, we tend to be our worst critic. After many years, I was determined to show others there is nothing wrong with being you and following your dreams and that you can succeed as You too. Through sacrifice, hard work and many years, I have over ten certifications, two licenses and a degree and currently a practicing licensed Medical Esthetician. So why do I call myself an Entrepreneur? I manage three other businesses now as well. How did I get to where I am today? I fought against the current, I did everything people thought I wouldn’t or couldn’t do, I kept going, and I keep going.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
That’s a simple question. No, it has not been an easy road. Having been bullied for so long made it hard for me to believe in myself and to keep or even trust friends, which led me to do everything pretty much alone. Luckily I did have some financial help from my parents and my husband, but that didn’t make things much easier. Not having such a large support system made it a bit difficult to have motivation until I started educating myself and realized I needed to be my cheerleader. I had all kinds of problems- money problems, car problems, work and school schedule conflicts, you name it, but I knew if I trained my mind to see the better of tomorrow, that I could get through today.
Please tell us about your business.
What is the G&G code? You see, my company had many names until I reach this one. I wanted people to ask why or what it meant. For me to spread the message, I needed to find a way to get people to ask me. As outgoing as I am, I was a bit shy when it came to discussing my dreams. G&G stands for glamorous and generous; I chose these two words because they mean something someway to each of us and I wanted to use it as a vessel to bring females together. We all have our version of Glamour whether it be Kim Kardashian or Amy Winehouse. Generous is simply the act of giving something to some its money to some attention. So as a medical esthetician, my focus is on skincare, but not just on service, I also offer an empowering environment. Along with that, I use a portion of my profits to help those who are in the same place I’ve been or worse. The G&G code is not just a person or business it’s a code, it’s a lifestyle, it’s a movement.
As a child from elementary even to high school, I was bullied and I even felt like the black sheep in my family all because I wasn’t your average girl. I was a tomboy, I played all sports, and I love science, but that doesn’t mean I can’t do some bomb facials. Long story short I use my services to help people feel more comfortable in their skin and I use my experiences to teach and motivate others in hopes that they will continue Empowering other women as well; whether it’s complimenting them, sharing business or even defending them in public. We would all do greater things if we choose to look at the good in someone, regardless if they rock your style of clothes or music. I’m very proud of being given the honor of sponsoring multiple Ventures such as Miss Hispanidad, Miami Model Citizens, Chapman Partnership and Lotus House. I feel what sets me apart is the entire concept behind my business. I have a few future projects that will be bringing this in all together, so stay tuned.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Oh wow, there are so many things I would’ve done differently, ultimately: don’t be afraid. Just do what you think is right and stick to it, do not let the opinions of others slow you down. With that being said, I’d probably be even further but in the end, it all happens because we need to learn to appreciate what we do have and the lessons we carry on for the rest of our lives.
