Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Rosado and Michelle Libasci.
Robert and Michelle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2015, I was a fresh college graduate running the boot camp program for a local CrossFit Gym living with my girlfriend who worked as an accountant by day and personal trainer in the evening. That February I decided to quit my job to move cross-country in the next couple of months. We had our sights on Las Vegas. While trying to make our final preparations I received a phone call, after the text. as to where my new facility was going to open up. With no planning and a complete 180 we ended up opening up our Strength Training facility, Empower Lift.
Has it been a smooth road?
With no planning, we started with very little equipment. in a very grand space. Without a financial forecast for two rents, we made the tough decision of leaving our comfortable living space, for the second floor of our Brand new business, equipped with only cold showers. We make shifted the furthest of the three office spaces into a bedroom where we would remain living with our two dogs for the next two years. Being unprepared for our business adventure we had no idea for the differences within a commercial lease versus a residential lease. Shortly after we found out we should have had both AC units inspected before signing since at least one of the two was broken at all times. Living in an office space with no windows and no AC with sacrificed sleep made things rough, not only as an individual but as a couple.
Please tell us more about your business.
We at Empower Lift specialize in Strength training for aesthetics and Injury Rehabilitation aka ” The Gym for Injured people” as one of our members said…… which is how she heard of us through a mutual friend. Many of our clients understand that strength training will help them achieve the look they want and fix many of the problems they have. This has shaped our facility into a small group personal training atmosphere alleviating skepticism and allowing us to treat past injuries/limitations in our doors. I am most proud of having developed one of the facilities in the North Miami Area that can/will gladly accept clients that range from the average 9-5er, Weightlifter, Powerlifter, Triathlete or, Body Builder, back to pre-injury level with corrective exercises and bodywork treatment. We are also known as the dog-friendly gym, having a space that accommodates owners to work out with their four-legged companions. Empower Lift Truly understands the meaning Of Build strength and Look good Naked which is what sets us apart!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Palm Trees, and sunshine, rarely a need to cover up in North Miami. Beauty is always in, which makes going to the gym a constant yes! We are the city of beauty and glam! I wish the means of transportation were more efficient like they were in my home state New Jersey.
