Today we’d like to introduce you to Marvin Montes.
Marvin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was introduced to media and marketing during my time at Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts. I always had an interest in creating content. In my early teens, I enjoyed creating comic books, music, visual content, and coming up with ways to brand myself. Going to college helped me figure out a way to break it down into tangible steps that could be managed which then allowed me to duplicate those steps and help others create brands of their own. I also learned more advanced skills in video editing and audio engineering that allowed me to create higher quality material. Once I completed my Bachelor’s program in Management and Marketing, I started my own business and began offering marketing consulting around my hometown and quickly built a reputation as a marketing professional.
Has it been a smooth road?
Getting to where I am has been a healthy mix of ups and downs. I try to look at the struggles as simple detours that I can learn from. While growing in Brockton, Massachusetts, I found myself getting involved in stereotypical situations you’d attach to a black man growing up in an urban city. The first step in my growth was detaching from that frame of mind. Once I was able to do that my goals became limitless, I quickly began to apply my skills even offering my services for free to ideas I felt passionate about. From that, I was able to create a consistent workflow for myself. In 2015, I moved down to Florida thinking it would be a smooth transition but I found myself having to start over and struggling to make new connections. This was a struggle that took me two to three years to adapt to and break out of. I used the same formula and began to offer my marketing services for free. This allowed me to build a client portfolio and improve my skills.

Esemai Media is a versatile company that focuses on media creation. We can help you create a commercial for your business, build your website and marketing material, produce an album for an upcoming artist, and even develop the artist that are looking to jump-start a music career. As an individual, I’ve had the opportunity to executive produce over ten albums and develop over five artists. I’ve also been a consultant for over ten startups, 4 being in West Palm Beach, FL. What sets us apart at Esemai is that we can take a small idea and develop it into a real tangible and profitable brand. We begin with a consultation to discuss your idea, we then develop your plan and budget, lastly, we begin the process of putting the brand together and executing the idea. How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next five to ten years, marketing will be based mostly online. The current trend in marketing is brands growing through viral content. Social media grows brands more than your traditional television or radio commercials. Many new artists, actors, brands, and influencers have been able to create profitable brands by capitalizing on social media platforms. Social media allows you to engage with the consumer directly. To market your content, you would need to build a strong brand and maintain the consumer’s interest level because there is always a new thing showing up online. That direct engagement is how many brands and individuals are winning with these changes in marketing.
