Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Powell.
Stacey, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I got into Real Estate when I first graduated from FAMU, I found it very hard to find a job in my degree, which is Health Care Administration. So, at the time my boyfriend was starting a Handyman repair business called Rent Ready. We were starting to receive a lot of work and referrals from Real Estate Agents. So, he came up with the idea for me to become a real estate agent so that way we can work together and I can throw jobs his way. Fast forward to six years later, I am now a Licensed Real Estate Broker of my own company in which I started two years ago. Which is a full-service real estate company.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being a first-generation business owner, I wasn’t aware of a lot of things, so it took me a little longer to get in the habit of holding myself accountable for my actions. When I first got my license I was so immature and naive to what it took to be a successful and profitable real estate agent, that I actually struggled for the first two years, because I didn’t have any goals, I wasn’t disciplined in my efforts, and ultimately I lost my real estate license in the process for not taking my post license in time. So, I decided to go back and get my real estate license, and I made a promise to myself that this time, I will take it more serious and I will go all the way through, and I won’t stop until there is a Powell Realty in every major city.
Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about your work?
Powell Realty SFL is a full-service real estate company. We offer a variety of services as it relates to the real estate process. We sell homes, we help buyers purchase homes, we help clients rent properties, as well as we manage and rehab properties with our sister company Rent Ready SFL. We serve as a great employment opportunity for agents who are looking to hang their license with our brokerage and learn tips and proven strategies to be profitable in the real estate business.
I am most proud of the brand and legacy I am creating for my family. It gives me so much joy to know that I am pioneering this business as a stepping stone for my children to build upon and expand,
What set us apart is our one on one interaction we have with our clients. Being that we are a small and intimate company we have the ability to form a direct relationship with our clients. I have created great friendships along the way with the clients I have served, and I continue to serve. With our multitude of services, we have the experience and knowledge to walk our clients through the entire process of either buying, selling, or renting their home.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, I certainly thing Fort Lauderdale is a great place to start a business in real estate, This city and the surrounding counties counting, Dade and Palm Beach allows for so much growth and opportunities right here in our own backyard. You have people from all walks of life, operating at different levels in this life which allows for you to find a market that works for you and you can push it and make some real money here.
Of course, with this being such a big city you have to bring your ‘A” game and continue to push what sets you apart in this business. Because that alone is what will keep people coming back to you and referring their friends.
