Meet Rhonda Rogers of Lake Worth West Resident Planning Group, Inc. in Palm Beach County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhonda Rogers.

Rhonda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am currently the executive director of Lake Worth West Resident Planning Group, Inc. I started my career in nonprofit in 1993 as an Office Assistant at Florence Fuller Child Development Center – West Campus and worked my way up to launching the West Center’s afterschool and summer camp programs. After seven years as the Director of the Youth Services programs (Afterschool and Summer Camp). I was selected for a position at the Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County, as a Contract Manager, where I served for eight years. I successfully worked in the Youth Development Department of CSC of Palm Beach County managing 25 plus contracts annually. After my time with CSC, I had the pleasure of serving as the Director of Community Engagement at Prime Time Palm Beach County. At Prime Time, I supervised staff, managed contracts and developed outreach events and programs. I am proud to say, that I launched the Afterschool Symposium, which is an Annual Conference for professionals in the youth development field. The conference is still a premier event for the agency.

Now, I am proud to be the first black women executive director of Lake Worth West Resident Planning Group, Inc. My staff and I work very hard every day to serve the families in western Lake Worth. Please visit our website to learn more www.lakeworthwest.org.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, I had to often prove myself to others. I was passed over for promotions that I deserved. I kept my head high and continued to meet and exceed the company’s goals and objectives. I knew one day, I would be afforded the opportunity to lead.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lake Worth West Resident Planning Group, Inc. – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

The youth in our community depend on our programs for homework assistance, afterschool programs, summer camp, special events, and other services.

For the adults, we offer numerous classes and clubs meant to enhance parenting skills and encourage family activities and unity.

Our objective is to create opportunities for our residents to thrive. We serve from the heart and our willingness to support our families in their time of need is what sets us apart from other nonprofits.

I am most proud of our youth development programs and how we are creating future leaders.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
To continue to grow the organization. We need more space. We have grown out of our buildings and need additional space to offer more programs and services, especially around mental health for our youth and parents.
