Life and Work with Ehimy Carrizo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ehimy Carrizo.

Ehimy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story goes as back as 2007, when after two pregnancies and huge depression I found myself weighing 387 lbs, maybe you should also know that I’m only 4’11”, so the health risk was unbelievable!. I moved to Miami in 2013, having a broken self-esteem this was an even bigger blow. Talking to a doctor, who suggested medication to help with the weight, I did, they didn’t work… and then, comes the Ketogenic lifestyle, once my oldest son got diagnosed with Cancer at 22 (he’s autistic too) I decided to shift my whole family. It’s been over two years, my son is off medication for his ADHD, he’s in remission, I’ve become the most active ive ever been and lost a total of 187 Lbs so far. Not only has my physical health improved, but my mental health is at its best.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road to a better me has not been easy, The road to a healthier family has been even harder!!!!
While my son was undergoing chemotherapy, the removal of sugars and most of the processed carbohydrates brought a lot of irritability, cravings and general “not feeling well”.

The 1st two weeks were the hardest, after deciding to be at home gave me a chance to start cooking all the meals, and found such a great joy adapting plates and recipes to our new lifestyle.

To you, that have been thinking about it… go for it!
To you, that have been struggling during… don’t stop, trust the process!
To you, that feel like a million bucks inside and out… I’m so proud of you!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of. What sets you apart from others?
I create recipes that are keto-friendly and adapt the regular day to day recipes to the ketogenic lifestyle.

Creating meals on a budget, helping people in their journey is the most gratifying thing I’ve done in a really long time!

I’ve been able to adapt my Hispanic culture to my ketogenic lifestyle which is huge for me.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I keep track of all my foods to keep my macros in check using: Carb Manager.
Instagram is such a huge motivation and great place to find support from the great Keto community. Some of the accounts that offer so much to my growth are: @losingpartofme, @errketo, @keto.sam.iam, @diaryofashrikingmommy, @callie721, @cicilovescheese, just to name a few…
