Meet Alan Gabay of Douglas Elliman Real Estate in Miami Beach Downtown and Miami Brickell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alan Gabay.

Alan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Born and raised in New York, I’ve always been an entrepreneur, a risk-taker, looking for ways to push myself to achieve goals that seem unattainable. In my professional life, I was an accomplished senior brand marketing executive and had successes in consumer services and products in many industries including retail, television, video, films, music and the Internet. I took great pride in my ability to multi-task many disciplines to achieve and surpass goals at both start-ups and well-established companies.

I’m always looking for the next challenge and that became a move to Miami in 2005. It was time for a change and Miami was calling me. My move was based on my desire to reboot myself and to help others who also wanted to do the same. After years as a senior corporate executive in New York City delivering exceptional client services, I move to Florida to begin my real estate career.

As a New Yorker, I understand Florida is a great destination with tax benefits for all people from every generation…and it has warm beaches and sun all year round. What could be better than that. Being a Broker with Douglas Elliman allows me the opportunity to work with people who also want to enrich the quality of their lives and make the changes necessary to do so.

What has helped me the most in my personal and professional life, and the one lesson that I have learned from all of my life experiences it to have fun and enjoy life, everyday. Life is a wonderful gift and not one to be taken for granted.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’m very fortunate that I have a very clear vision of what I want and the correct path needed to achieve it. Whether in my personal or professional life, there are always some “bumps in the road”. That’s just a part of life and you need to be able to be patient and work around it. I’ve always said that there is a need to have “options” and it’s necessary to have a backup plan at all times for any contingency that may occur. Often a problem is created that you have no control over, but you can always figure out a way to work around it and continue to move forward.

Tell us more about your work.
As a Broker Associate with Douglas Elliman, every day I work with my clients who want to relocate, reinvent and reinvigorate their lives. As a New Yorker, I listen to what my clients want and then work with them to achieve their goals. I have clients from all generations who want to be able to work with someone who understands the Florida real estate market and the tax benefits to being a Florida Resident. As a Boomer, I enjoy working with fellow Boomers ready to explore the next phase of an active lifestyle. It’s what I did for himself and what I will do it for others. As a Boomer myself, not only do I understand my generation’s very specific needs and requirements, but I also focus on providing them a level of comfort and expertise that makes the buying or selling experience easy. I’m all about helping my clients.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In Florida, it will continue to grow as people are realizing the wonderful tax benefits of being a Florida Resident and the sun and warm weather that you can have all year long. There’s a reason that Florida is called “The Sunshine State” and more and more people are deciding this is where they want to live
