Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Maria.
Angelica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It began in college when I realized I had a knack for photography and social media growth. College was never something I wanted, just something I did because it was what we all are taught brings success. My major was graphic design and later advertising but my passions weren’t properly executed in a classroom setting. Well, after my first year, I decided I wanted a different path than the traditional. I worked 24/7. I took new photos and posted to all my social platforms every day. Consistency was my method. I enjoyed what I was doing most of all. After I reached a comfortable following, I decided to launch my YouTube channel. YouTube was always something that intrigued me and I had been watching YouTubers since I was very young. They inspired me because they made videos doing what they love. Makeup artists, fashion vloggers, comedians, commentators, and so many more genres made up this vast platform of creativity. Ultimately, my passion for videography, photography, social media promotion, and fashion, all broadcasted into my YouTube channel!
Has it been a smooth road?
Dropping out of college is never something people look at as a highlight in their journey. But if it wasn’t for that obstacle, I would have never had the motivation to go after what I wanted. And I learned so much leading up to where I am. Doing all of this entirely on my own, I’ve learned who to trust in this business and what is required of me to stay pertinent. If I was to give advice for someone who has no guide in their desired field, I would tell them that the only thing standing in your way is yourself. Every day, every hour could be time put towards your goal. Hard work pays off. And always invest in yourself.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Badd Angel story. Tell us more about it.
My passion for photography, videography, social media promotion and fashion is all broadcasted through my YouTube channel and an Instagram feed. As a curve model and influencer, I am actively expressing my confidence in who I am. Curve and plus size women are making headlines in the fashion industry and I am proud to be apart of such an inspirational and body positive community. My hope is to reach women of all ages and sizes and show them that regardless of your dress size, you are beautiful and you deserve representation in the mainstream media. My YouTube Channel features many different brands and products. I do try on Fashion frequently, unbox products, and talk about my journey to body positivity. My Instagram spotlights my curvy fashion sense and photography. Both platforms allow me to simply be myself and allows me to reach my audience on a personal level.
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
I am inspired by so many women almost every day. Marilyn Monroe has been one of my greatest inspirations. Marilyn denied the stereotype of a “blonde bombshell” and instead illustrated feminism and confidence. She represents that you can come from the lowest place and still reach your dreams.
But the woman who inspired me the most was Annamaria. Anna worked all day and still came home, prepared dinner, cleaned, and took care of her two kids. She was truly superwoman. She works one of the toughest jobs I’ve ever witness. She councils domestic violence survivors, sexual assault victims, and families of deceased soldiers. Her ability to provide for her family and help so many people is what inspires me to do the same. Annamaria is my mom.
