Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Richards.
Angel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
At an early age, I struggled with low self-esteem, anger, and depression as I watched my family fall apart. My mom left my dad, my siblings moved with my grandparents and my mom and I bounced around from housing projects to trailer parks until she remarried. Us, finally settling down made things better, however, in the midst of all the transitions, I was molested and sexually assaulted- keeping a secret that was killing me slowly. As a way to numb my pain, I was seeking attention and love in all the wrong places. I dated all the wrong guys- older men, drug dealers and even found myself in an abusive relationship. Eventually, I became a teen mom at 15 years old and had my second child by age 19. Although it was tough, I did graduate high school and attended college getting my degree in Education.
While working on my master’s degree- I got pregnant with twins and became a single mom of four. At this point, my desire for love and family was strong. I always say- desperation leads to poor decisions. Not wanting to be alone or do it all alone, I spent a few years in a toxic relationship that left me bitter, depressed and suicidal. In this season, this is where I really developed my relationship with God and myself. I began my “clutter-free” journey to start healing and restoring what was lost since I was a child. I started to declutter every area of my life- mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically, financially and relationally. It wasn’t easy facing my truth, making the tough decision to let go or breaking the cycles that had kept my broken. But I did it. So, once I could see the light, I felt obligated to help other women, especially single moms, to overcome the obstacles that were keeping them stuck. This is when I started Clutter Free Society- an online classroom, coaching program and community helping women declutter mentally and emotionally so they can have the love, peace, happiness, success, and freedom they deserve.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was definitely a rocky road for myself and my children. I wasn’t the best mom when I was at my lowest point. I actually resented being a single mother at that time. I lost some friends and family, lost all my money, and I lost myself as I was in and out of several dead-end relationships looking for someone to save me. But I learned that I AM THE SOLUTION and I had to save myself. So, that’s what I did one day, one decision and one prayer at a time.
Clutter Free Society – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am very proud to say that in the past 10 years, my Clutter-Free Movement has impacted the lives of thousands of women and men worldwide. I specialize in helping women gain the clarity, confidence, and courage they need to become the best versions of themselves. Then and only then can you truly live your “best life.” Through my coaching program Clutter Free Society, I offer group and private clarity coaching to the members, as well as provide weekly empowerment sessions and monthly masterclasses to help them declutter their lives. We talk mindset, money, relationships, career, business and more. It’s all about strategy, support, and sisterhood. We also have our annual event called Clutter Free Weekend where a woman from all over travel to Miami for a 3-day experience doing the inner work required for more peace, happiness, and success. It’s been life-changing for the women who have attended. Many women return every year to create more breakthroughs together.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the future, I think almost everyone will have a life coach. The influence and impact of life coaching and self-help have had on the world as a whole has been tremendous. I believe it’s going to be a day when people will look at you strangely if you do NOT have one because of how quickly people and communities are being transformed as a result of having easier access to this relevant and relatable support.
