Meet Humberto Terán of Healthy Route 66

Today we’d like to introduce you to Humberto Terán.

Healthy Route 66 is an innovative concept in the gastronomy specialized in healthy food that is beginning the expansion of its brand around the United States, Latin America and Europe through the franchise business model.

For Humberto, founder and CEO of the company, to see his dream become a franchise as unique in the competitive market of healthy gastronomy, shows that his enterprise is marking a before and after within the culture and new style of life that preserves the health of all members of the family and those who want a change of life through a healthy and nutritious diet, with a novel gourmet style.

This great achievement, makes the young entrepreneur commit in 2017 to continue developing exquisite healthy recipes and hit the market with his new range of healthy and delicious products.

The Healthy Route 66 brand goes beyond the physical appearance, of looking good; It is focused on the integral health of the people when they realize the importance of eating  healthy. Hence the slogan of the company: “Healthy eating is no longer boring.”

It should be noted that this concept stems from his health personal history, who had the need to change his lifestyle and food intake, when diagnosed with a high blood pressure condition, which ten years later led to him suffering a stroke that almost cost him his life.

This condition led him into the kitchen to create his own delicious and healthy recipes, which he later used to give life to a restaurant in Doral, Florida. Today, this restaurant is expanding throughout the geography under the franchise business model. Now, Healthy Route 66 is located in Coral Gables and Kendall, too.

Has it been a smooth road?
I am originally from Venezuela. I decided to come to The United States to start my business because of the political, social and economic situation in my country. It has been a wonderful journey and a “sweet and sour” learning. It’s not easy to run a business in a foreign country. I had to learn about the culture, the system and everything. The only connection I had in 2012 when I started the first restaurant, was the healthy life style I want to promote through my recipes, more than 150.

This country is a place full of opportunities and where “the American Dream” is possible.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Healthy Route 66 is a unique gastronomic proposal in the world, with more than 150 recipes created, offering a variety of dishes that break the usual “healthy menu” schemes, which we normally associate with salads and green juices. From hamburgers, pizzas and pastas, to delicious arepas and empanadas. Made in a kitchen free of oil, sugar or refined flour, the restaurant, which operates under the motto: “healthy eating is no longer boring”, is home to those foodies who like to eat delicious without abandoning their healthy lifestyle and for people with health conditions looking to improve them.

The Portobello hamburger, fish lasagna, pizzas, avocado and shrimp timbales and sweet potato empanadas are some of the most popular dishes, for those who have discovered that they can eat food that is both delicious and healthy.

We really want to expand our concept and, as part of our growing strategy, we started the expansion of the brand in the United States, Latin America, and Europe by adopting a franchise model.

I am currently in negotiations to bring Healthy Route 66 to Texas, North Carolina, and New York with the dream of soon sharing the variety of my tasty recipes globally and turning the restaurant into the global healthy food franchise.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The south of Florida, especially Miami has been a great place to start our business.
