Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Cahn.
Jonathan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was a landscaper, started playing in local bars, going to bed late, waking up early. Then I started a band, they stood me up at an event called battle of the bands where we could have won a tour and record deal. Became a solo artist, and now I’m working towards making my own record and touring the states with my original music
Has it been a smooth road?
For ten years, I didn’t have any papers to help me work or keep a job that didn’t demand me doing taxes. I always did jobs that paid cash, I had an unexpected child, didn’t have a car for four years – using public transportation and making very little income to support my self.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m know for being a guitar player and a singer in my circle of friends and coworkers – I’ proud in my craft for taking risks by becoming a singer-songwriter that still likes to talk about matters of love and heartbreak, struggles and fantasy rather than keep talking what most artists do in their songs like: superficial or materialistic things also as heartbreak but offending women or degrading them. (I can’t relate)
What’s your outlook for the industry in our city?
Miami doesn’t have an appreciation for instruments they like a band but most people don’t know what they are listening to. Its all about Dj’s and beats, everything is mostly synthetic and music is very tense. If you make it in Miami you make it in any other part of the world. Its an epicenter for booming trends, Wynwood is a good place for creators and artists.
