Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Dubay.
Tyler, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My mother has been singing to me since she was pregnant with me. My mom was a classic rock singer and exposed me to the beauty of music at an early age. She would play the best music, play me tapes of her old studio recordings, and would throw karaoke nights at our home. She performed with bands, guitar legends, and would bring me to their rehearsals. Music is what I gravitate to, then and now. It was always my favorite class, my favorite subject, and all I ever wanted to pursue in life. I started to train my voice in the elementary school choir, then middle school, and eventually high school. I’ve always been a writer… poems, lyrics, stories, it’s my thing.
When I was younger, I had this very specific idea of how I wanted my life to turn out. I went through a lot but turned out to be better than I could have ever imagined. For a while, I had shelved my talents and dreams. I put them on hold to pursue my education and to earn my bachelor’s degree. This was all after being told too many times that what I wanted to do wasn’t going to put a roof over my head or food on my table. “It’s not a real career”, is still my favorite line. I know a lot of Artists struggle with this… but it’s time to start proving all of that wrong. This past year gave me many wake up calls. I am ready to break through to everyone. I am ready to bulldoze my way through and no one will stop me.
At the beginning of 2019, I have made it my goal to take my singing career seriously. I feel that it is finally time to be my true self and chase my dreams. The people around me and in my life see it too. It is time. This past January, I dropped my first debut single, “Blame It On the Moon”, which is currently on all streaming platforms. I am currently working on my first project, which will be an EP. This is the start of something beautiful for me and my future. It is definitely a process that I must trust and not ever lose sight. I’m excited to put new music out and for you all to hear it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like the quote says, “if this journey is not challenging, the destination won’t be rewarding.” If you really want something, there is always a challenge. My main challenge is myself. I am a perfectionist with my craft, but who isn’t?
Please tell us about what you do.
I am a Recording Artist/Singer/Songwriter based out of South Florida.
In my music, I share personal experiences of my own, as well as others’. The thing I love most about the expression of music is that you are able to form your own opinion and meaning of it. It’s up to you to interpret it the way you want. I hope to help heal your hearts, lift you up in oh-so-good spirits, and give you the realization and reminders that you’re not the only one. I am unique and a pure-hearted soul that will be bringing something different to the table. You will just have to wait and hear…
In one word, my style is a vibe.
Any predictions for the industry over the next few years?
The music industry needs new faces in the spotlight and it is coming. It has changed drastically in the past few years. New styles, new people, new everything. Fresh organic ideas. The people you hear on the radio now will still be around, but the talent that will show up over the next 5-10 years will be incredible. There are so many talented individuals in the world that deserve to be heard and make it. I am ready to experience a shift and it is going to be lit.
