Today we’d like to introduce you to Mimi Sanchez.
After having a successful Latin modeling agency called MODA Modelos, for ten years in Dallas, TX, Mimi desired much more. She moved to Miami in 2013 in pursuit of new goals, ambitions, and adventures. Realizing that she also had a passion for helping other small businesses succeed, she embarked on setting a goal to one day launch a social media agency. In addition to being a speaker for the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, one of her first endeavors was becoming a Miami Lifestyle Blogger. Moreover, her entrepreneur spirit ignited her to launch Social Solutions & Consulting, where helping start-up businesses and established businesses thrive in their social media goals will be her mission. With her unfaltering energy and knowledge, as a social media content creator, she is determined to not only help others obtain their goals but surpass them using social media as a systematic tool.

Nonetheless, MiMi also has an artistic side to her. She started to pursue her music career a few years ago and decided to pause it due to many factors in the Latin music industry. It is dominated by men and it’s extremely difficult to make it without a proper team. After pausing her career for a few years, she missed her passion for writing lyrics and recording music. After a life experience that impacted MiMi, she took her feelings to write a song called “Walk Away”, which woke up her passion in music and decided to get right back on her music career. She has been now in the recording studio writing and recording new music and even collaborating with other artists.
Mimi will be re-launching her music in the summer of 2019 and is excited to be recording a music video for Walk Away. She currently has a GoFundMe page to help raise funds to make this music video happen. MiMi’s ambition and drive hope to influence others to never give up on their dreams. Follow her adventures on Instagram: MimiSanchezBlog.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We still live in a Man’s world. Being an ambitious woman with big goals means I have to work twice as hard. Lots of sacrifices and lots of ups and downs are apart of the journey. I’ve learned a lot along the way. Being 40 now has opened my eyes to so many things. The stupid little things don’t matter anymore and I find that my purpose in life is to mentor others and help push people to be their best. I get great satisfaction in mentoring and influencing others to reach their goals. It’s the ultimate high!
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
What do I specialize in? It’s funny when people ask me that because I wear multiple hats. By heart, I am an entrepreneur however, I do also have an artistic side to me. So, where should I start? LOL.
My background is in Social Media/Marketing and before I moved to Miami six years ago, I used to live in Dallas.
I started a modeling agency called MODA Modelos in 2005 and ran it for about 10yrs. I developed models, produced events such as fashion shows and hosted many events in Dallas. After ignoring my artistic side for several years I was encouraged to write my first song called Complete Me. I was hooked! By this time, I was in my mid 30’s which is super old according to the “music industry.” However, the music industry started to change so much in regards that an artist did not need to be signed on to a major record label in order to put out music since our world was now transiting to a digital world. I now had a chance to get back in my music roots! Which now brings me to my decision to move to Miami to pursue my music dreams as a singer/songwriter. I moved to Miami back in 2013 not knowing what and how I was going to start. I just went for it.
Fast forwarding to 2019, so much has happened in my journey. At the end of the day, one still has to pay bills and such but still keep the flame burning of your dream. I paused the journey of my music career after some discouragement related in the music industry. The Latin music industry world is dominated by men and run by men. To make a long story, two bad incidences occurred and I was so discouraged that I said I was DONE with the music industry. That was back in 2015. Then that’s when I took up blogging after attending a media conference.
My blog focuses on Miami Lifestyle, and I cover hot spots, events and fun things to do in Miami. When I discovered how much Miami loves bloggers and started getting invited to cool bloggers events, well I definitely was on board!
Nonetheless, music is in my blood and I started to miss it so much. I had been three years that I had given it up and thought that I had never wanted to go back. It took a dramatic event in my life to feel the need to write lyrics and basically just vent. Well, that was February of 2018, I have since recorded the song and soon record the music video. I’m excited to accomplish my dream and who knows what might happen after I release the song? At least, I’m planting my little seed in my part in paving the way for other Latina singers trying to reach their dreams.
Tell us about your childhood, what were you like growing up?
I’ve always been an extrovert with a huge personality! I was always dancing and performing for my family growing up. I had a thing for Michael Jackson and Madonna then later Britney Spears, lol. I had great mentors that always pushed me to be different and be a leader. As early as 6th grade, I can remember that I have always had leadership roles. In high school, I was in Student Government and I was president of this, president of that, cheerleader, dance team, A Choir. You name it! I always loved to be involved and meet new people. Then when I attended college I had opportunities to travel when I took on internships. But my most distinguished accomplishment was interning for Chanel in New York. That opportunity set the pace for my career and truly an amazing experience. To add to this experience of this Texas girl moving to New York, I was there for 9/11.
Thankfully, I was never in any danger, however, I did believe that I was going to die that day. After having a near death experience in your life, it makes you realize that you’re not promised tomorrow. Ever since that day, I don’t take any day for granted. I love life to the fullest and appreciate every moment, the good the bad and the ugly! It’s all apart of the journey.
Now, at 41, I look back and see how much I’ve accomplished, how many people I’ve helped influence in accomplishing their dreams, it’s all totally been worth it. I’ve been non-stop since I was 25 and now, I’ve realized that I need to slow down a bit and reevaluate what’s now important for my future. I’m excited about what’s to come and hope to share my life experiences with others.
