Today we’d like to introduce you to Valery Conde.
It all started with a pocket notebook. Valery, Yumme’s founder, is an organized foodie by heart. While she was cruising college in Boston, MA, USA, she kept a small pocket notebook with all of her favorite restaurants around the world written on it, a page or two for each city. Her brother Daniel, Yumme’s developer, studied Computer Science in Vancouver, BC, Canada. For the organized foodie, it all added up. An app idea that seemed a necessity for foodies with a brother that knew how to develop the app. The weekend of her graduation, all her family flew to Boston. On a short family road trip to Rockport, MA, she spoke out the idea in the car. They all loved it! Since then, Valery has been working along her brother to create the best foodie app out there: Yumme. Yumme is a foodie app designed for those who want to save and share their favorite restaurants worldwide.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Every company, in order to be successful, has to learn from each obstacle the road brings. Sometimes, they are easier and sometimes they are hard but I have learned from each and every one. We aren’t born knowing everything and it is not possible to study everything you need to know about being an entrepreneur and launching a mobile app. Every step has been an amazing experience.
What else should our readers know?
Yumme is a social media platform in the form of a mobile app where the user can search for any restaurant around the world to save and share with friends and followers. The user will be able to add pictures and notes on each restaurant they add to remember any aspect from that specific place. One of the main features is a map where you can see your saved restaurants denoted with orange-colored pins and your friends’ saved restaurants denoted with guava-colored pins. Yumme is an essential app for anyone who loves dining out.
What sets us apart is that we’re not focused on ratings. If you don’t enjoy a restaurant, you simply don’t add it to your profile. Another thing is that you only follow your friends or users you know so that you get the information you really want.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was the definition of a tomboy. This was mostly due to having three older brothers. I never liked dolls; I always liked doing ‘boys stuff’. I was very aware of what I wanted and was very decisive. I was more of an introvert but at the same time an extrovert with the people I loved.
