Meet Kellie Britch, Amy Kate Anderson, and Gemini Tauberge of Cherrybomb Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kellie Britch, Amy Kate Anderson, and Gemini Tauberge.

Kellie, Amy Kate, and Gemini, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Cherrybomb media is a female owned and operated social media marketing company in Tampa, Florida. We are all about empowering female creatives, enriching businesses and creating jaw-dropping content.

Kellie and Gemini had been friends for years and returned to USF to study advertising around the same time. Kellie jokingly mentioned starting a female-operated advertising agency to Gemini around a Christmas bonfire. To her surprise, Gemini was all in, and the rest is history. On the way to their first meeting, Gemini was listening to The Runaways, which inspired the naming process. At an early meeting, they ran into another longtime friend and fellow creative at the bar, AK, and the power trio formed.

Having expertise in copywriting, graphic design, and photography respectively, there is no surface untouched between the three when it comes to creating an image for brands they can be proud of.

At the root of it, we provide a full-service marketing strategy with all original content to help brands stand out.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have been learning as we go. There has been a lot of on the job learning since we just went for it without following traditional paths.

We have found that the more effort we put in the more we grow. Initially, it’s scary to reach out to potential clients because of the inevitable imposter syndrome, but once we move past that mental block, we have found that people want to support passion and hard work.

The biggest obstacle we have run into is that people don’t always value your work as a startup. For example, expecting free work, or discounted work just because we have only been established for a few months or friends. We have learned to put our foot down, and wait to get clients that both respect and appreciate the work, cuz its damn good. Though we have hit the ground running, we still understand slow and steady will produce the clients we want.

Cherrybomb Media – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a female run digital creative agency, we specialize in original content creation.

But we don’t stop there.

Something that sets us apart is the work we have done already for nonprofit organizations in town. We have already thrown two events in the last two months to raise money for autism awareness and homeless families in our community.

In April, we sponsored and curated an art show for Autism Awareness Month. Proceeds went to the local nonprofit school for kids with special needs, Impact Academy. Local artists donated pieces for the show, but we also featured work from kids at the school, making it an art show for and by the kids. We raised over $2,000 for the school.

We recently switched gears and threw a networking event for local female entrepreneurs. We created an organic environment for boss babes to get to know one another, with all of our profits going to Dawning Family Services, a local nonprofit that houses, educates, and feeds homeless families.

Is there something we can do as a city to improve the outlook for businesses like yours?
Bloom where you’re planted.

There’s always a “better” or “more convenient” place to start, but we are making moves where we are. Tampa is growing for sure, so we are creating the agency we want and it needs as it grows.

There is a lot of opportunities as Tampa expands because we are so specialized. There is and will be a need for our services, so we will benefit from starting when and where we did.
