Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridgette Casellas.
Bridgette, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Since I was a little girl, I’ve had the passion to tell my story, but not just my story to share any story I come across. I was four years old, I knew all I wanted to do was to act. My parents had a little VHS camera and I remember writing plays, and movie scripts and filming them with my sister. We actually made a little zombie horror film. I was put in a performing arts summer camp in 5th grade and moved onto being in drama club through the middle to high school. I became a thespian, and once I graduated, I moved onto an amazing arts college in Miami. The New World School of the Arts gave me amazing training in theatre. I did that schooling for a whole year. My passion is in the film however, that is my ultimate goal. Right now, I’m living in Broward and trying to make my living out of Miami. I’m auditioning for local jobs, local student projects, etc. It’s been such a ride, and I’m so excited for what’s to come.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I did not pick an easy career, it is all I have to say. I’m trying to put myself out there as much as I can. I’m not anywhere near where I want to be. As a young artist, I have to say never give up on your dreams. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be, and when the time is right it will be. I’ve heard so many stories of people working so hard for 4 years going to castings every day, he didn’t book any. 1 month later he started booking everything, from shows to movies. My advice for anyone just started is if you have a backup plan “in case this doesn’t work out”, go with your back up plan. I only say this because your focus and effort will not be 100% on what you want to do. In anything you do, there will be doubts, there will be hard times, but have faith, and stay true to you.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m an actor, that is all I want to do and be. However, I definitely have other passions, things that add to my fulfillment. I’m all about my health, I love to eat good, feel good, and work out. I love to cook, I started a health page in high school with my best friend on Instagram, it’s called @guiltfreelife_. I’m also very into spirituality, connecting to my true authentic self. I’m so thankful that I have a group of friends who all encourage each other and motivate each other with creativity. I think my support is what separates me from others, it’s my community of artists. There’s no competition, only support, and success from one another.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Never give up on your dreams, stay true to yourself. Authenticity is what sets you apart from everyone else. There is no other you out there.
