Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Poore.
Mike, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I have worked for a small Engineering/Surveying firm in North Miami Beach for the past 20 years. Drones have become useful in the daily operations of the business. I have always been intrigued by these flying gadgets. It didn’t take long to realize that this is something that I would like to pursue. After purchasing my very own drone & launching it for the first time in my backyard, I was immediately hooked on flying these incredible inventions. I began practicing often until I became more comfortable flying higher and further away. The next step was to work with the aerial photography & video aspects of the drone. After continued effort, I started posting my work on Instagram. I was approached to do some real estate work soon thereafter. That further increased my focus on becoming a licensed remote pilot and passing the FAA Part 107 exam in order to be compensated for commercial work. I then began tackling the requirements associated with starting a business. I am proud to hold the title of being a Licensed and Insured Drone Pilot specializing in Aerial Photography. Today, I am grateful for the opportunity to be an entrepreneur. I am living the American Dream.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I enjoy capturing the true beauty of South Florida. I have always had a love for this tropical paradise. I am fortunate to consistently have a canvas of palm trees or a beautiful stretch of beach to work with. I like to feature the beautiful landscape as well as the spectacular cityscape. Miami exhibits many examples of truly amazing architecture. I have a passion for displaying different perspectives of these picturesque structures. I hope others will be drawn to the images that I capture and that they would want to experience this simply sublime scenery for themselves.
What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
The use of drones is a thriving industry in the world today. They are being utilized in many different aspects of our lives. Apart from shooting the beauty of the world, they are also being used to capture raw devastation that occurs in our changing global conditions. It is a growing art form that depends on professional drone pilots to capture this material in order to deliver it to the rest of the world. The drone market and their practical everyday use will continue to grow with each passing year. There will definitely be a constant demand for qualified drone operators to fulfill those needs.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
