Meet Trailblazer Nina Zevallos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Zevallos.

Nina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my journey into the wellness world with my good friend Jessica Bigio who made me fall in love again with fitness.

I grew up playing sports and was always drawn to it. My mother also was a huge advocate of healthy eating so it always felt natural to be associated with health.

I opened an indoor cycling studio Wynwheels four years ago and through it, I’ve learned so much about the industry and have made the most unbelievable connections.

A couple of years ago, I was diagnosed with a liver inflammation that could develop into cancer and I was in disbelief of what was going on since I had such a healthy lifestyle already.

I found out that the reason was a simple over the counter medication I was taking for my runner’s knees. This situation made me open my eyes to a whole new level of true wellness: the holistic approach.

I was introduced to doterra essential oils by my friend Jen Pansa and when I saw the results in me and my family I was convinced that the entire world needed to know about this alternative.

So, there started my journey into a holistic approach to fitness and health overall, through this new vision, I have been able to help hundreds of people and I simply can’t stop.

Athleta saw my mission and invited me to be a brand ambassador. I’m still in awe of this amazing opportunity to have such a strong partner in this journey.

I have as well teamed up with Soul Tavern to create a community of like-minded individuals and keep communicating the message of love and healthy living.

I am fortunate to have the collaboration of Moet Chandon on my vegan dinner events and count with the support of sustainable  practice companies such as Hungry Harvest.

I also do weekly interviews on my social media platforms of different Wellness revolutionaries where we talk about different issues and solutions to wellbeing from natural approaches.

It is a pleasure and an honor for me to be able to reach out to so many that need this message and being able to help them live to their fullest is my dream come true.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being an entrepreneur is not an easy road. It has so many bumps sometimes you feel like throwing the towel and go back to work for a salary. But if there is one thing that makes me dust myself off is to remember my Why.

My two tips:

1. Find your Why. What makes you feel inspired to wake up and keep doing what you are doing? Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years? Where do you see your loved ones, how will it make you feel? Close your eyes, think and feel it. Write it down, big. Put it in front of you and make it your daily fuel

2. Find a community of support: we are the reflection of the first five people we spend most of our time with. So, take a close look at who you are constantly surrounded by. I chose to be part of Las Comadres. An unbelievable support group created by Gaby Guzman and that was introduced to me by Patty Suau. This community of women inspires me every day and offers all the creative and emotional support you could ever imagine. Find your tribe and if you can’t find it then create it.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am the coach the will help you stop being afraid of getting to the gym. I specialize in women that want to start exercising but don’t know where or feel judged when entering a gym.

My approach to health and fitness is not focused on how chiseled your abs are but how happy you are and how healthy you can be.

Fitness is not about looks, it’s about the ability to properly move, develop the necessary strength and endurance to run in case of emergency with a child in one arm and a bag on the other.

It’s about learning how to use your body at its best to avoid injury and to keep a healthy weight to stay away from disease.

By using essential oils and mindful practices, we round up non-toxic living and emotional fitness.

We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
I feel that the only barriers in the industry are the ones we create in our heads.

We are in total charge to reach the goals we want as women.

We don’t need to adopt male attitudes in order to thrive. We can be ourselves and lead successfully wearing all the flowers and the ruffles we want if that is what we like.

We thrive when we feel our best when we wear what we like regardless of what others think.

Being feminine needs to stop being looked down as a weakness and start to be embraced as a powerful strength.
