Rising Stars: Meet Quan’ta Evans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quan’ta Evans.

Hi Quan’ta, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story started when I was young, around 15. Me, my brother Jodi and a couple other homies just hanging out, and we started something that changes our lives. iSk8 was created in 2009 and since then it’s been developing. It started off is something simple, just a group of kids skateboarding and I later turned it into and entertainment company and business that hasn’t stopped growing. It started with skateboarding and other sports, then music. Shortly after we started to have an impact on the community, inspiring others. That’s what made it easy to make the transition from a group kids skating into a business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I took the long road not a smooth one lol. There’s been plenty of struggles I’ve dealt with a lot. I had to overcome a lot of networking obstacles; funding and investing into the brand. Being new to everything and having to learn the marketing business, as well as running a business properly, was a struggle. Making transitions and certain changes were a struggle for me when dealing with people, clients or anything customer service-wise. Trying new things, taking losses, or losing in any type of way. On top of all of that, being an artist and having to fully back myself and invest into my career while trying to run a business at the same time was a big struggle. I think that’s what lead me to combine my artistry and business together. And then there’s always you trying to maintain and live a good life, as well as trying to be happy and keep others happy during all the other business struggles is a hassle of its own. This road gets lonely sometimes, worth it in the end, though.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an artist, music engineer, producer etc. I been recording music since I been 15. I have been writing since before then. I went to school for audio engineering so I got a good look into the making of music. Chasing music is what lead me to open up my music marketing and management company. So now, being an artist and a CEO I’m more into helping others with their business on the marketing tip. My specialty is helping other artists acquire what they need as well as providing a platform for their work to get out to others. I love helping people, the more I learn and grow the easier I want to make it for the next person. I believe in passing down knowledge to others. Really because it was so hard for me, I wish there was me for me! I’m proud of everything, I’ve come so far I’m starting to surprised myself. From rolling loud performances, album placements, charting songs, millions of views, hundreds of sales, thousands of website impressions and more. I just want to keep seeing it grow, I’m going to work as hard as possible to see that happen. I think that’s what sets me aside from others, the work I put in. I’m trying to be productive every hour of the day if possible. I love it.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
After covid, it’s hard to say. The music industry has made some flips, but marketing is at an all-time high. People have inquired more from my business to help with new strategies and ways that they can adapt to the pandemic. Hopefully, things can get back to normal soon within the next year or two but for now, I’m just trying to stay ahead of the game and not fall short. Thinking further past that those years, I definitely see the industry going more digital and more on streaming and ad sales. Even with that I plan on jus trying to stay ahead of it all and be apart of the changes or trends.
