Rising Stars: Meet Jasmine Carter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Carter.

Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a passion for the arts. I was in TV production in high school and wanted to continue in that area, but I couldn’t afford a camera. Last year March, during the quarantine, I had enough for a camera and I purchased one. I started taking pictures for fun. I would show them to my friend and post online and I’d receive great feedback, so I began charging and from there, I started my own photography business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d say my only struggle would have been my own fear. Fear of me failing, fear of others not liking my work. But I realized there will always be someone that won’t see the same vision that I see. I just had to break out of that mentality. I received a lot of knowledge from other photographers from all over south Florida and even NYC.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an amateur photographer. I’m still trying to find my niche. I’ve been dabbling in different genres of photography. Capturing and editing beautiful and memorable pictures is what I think I’m known for. I’m proud of how much progress and better I’ve gotten within a year, but just being self-taught. My smoke bomb pictures, I would say that definitely sets me apart from other photographers. It’s different it’s fresh and it brings a different type of flare.

What matters most to you?
The satisfaction of my clients. If they do not like a certain pose or a certain picture at the time of the shoot, I will take 20 more. It’s important that my clients have options to choose from that they love. I love seeing how excited they are just by viewing the unedited photos. It just makes me more excited to edit the pictures and show a slightly different vision. Seeing them smile makes me know that they will have this memory forever and it gives me great pleasure that I was the one who was able to capture that.
