Today we’d like to introduce you to Brush1 The Road Marshal. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Now ‘to do road’ is far better with Romario White, commonly known as “The Road Marshal” and “Brush1Chromatic” who is a descendant of the cool parish of Portland. The Marshal attended the prestigious Titchfield High School that boasts producing excellent students for over 230 years. With a solid foundation already in place, it is no question why his dreams are big, and his passion for entertainment is bigger, having discovered it at a very young age. The Road Marshal came from humble beginnings and has never stopped being thankful to his mother, who ensured he and his siblings had the basic needs of life. Unable to afford the latest gadgets and keep up with the fashion trends, they were satisfied with what they had and were never ungrateful.
His love for entertainment developed as he interacted with some of the finest entertainers who made it possible to receive insights into the industry. The passion only grew. Entertainment was also a family affair. His stepdad had a traditional sound system, and his brother had a recording studio at home where he produced his music. Growing up, he knew that entertainment was his dream and thought of it as a lifestyle and not only performance.
Working hard and being smart are things he does inevitably. With a powerhouse family and his role models, success in the industry was something he knew he could achieve. The Marshal was motivated by various persons across the industry. However, the likes of Creep and Nicco Chromatic fueled his passion through their spectacular movements and his admiration of Damion Delingy’s powerful voice pushed him to try even harder. Ten years later, he sees himself as his motivation using every performance as a lesson to do better. It makes him push harder, returning even better.
Having Bunji Garlin’s “Truck on the Road” wasn’t enough for the Soca world. As such, someone needed to be there to marshal it. Hence, the name “The Road Marshal” was born after several brainstorms by his friend and himself. They knew that he would be the next big thing on the scene and the road.
Entering the entertainment industry is not easy. It requires focus and dedication. Regardless of the obstacles, giving up is never an option. As such, The Marshal’s mantra has always been, “two ears, one mouth. I must listen twice as much as I talk.” His purpose-driven attitude has allowed him to take the hits then keep swinging. Knowing what he wanted was very important and required never giving up. He would always tell people to “finish the mission even without a cheat code.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One major obstacle brush1 faced at the beginning of his career, and still face up to this day, just in different forms is, getting persons to see him as more than one thing. Yes, he might be the road marshal that marshals the road though he also makes music, Hilarious TikTok videos, and has solid opinions on topics. Brush1 isn’t one thing or two things and wants his audience to know that.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Brush1chromatic is a Radio DJ & Presenter, Recording Artist, Influencer, and Television Personality. You can hear him on the radio five days a week from Monday to Friday 1-5 PM at fyah105.com or 105.7/9 FM when in Jamaica. Brush1 also releases music on a semi-regular basis to keep his musical fans engaged. “I can only make music when I experience something I think is worth singing about,” brush1 says. there is one thing that the road marshal makes sure he stays consistent in though that is his comedy sketches “it’s stress relief for me to be honest, making videos help me relax .” His last television appearance was in 2019, but the road marshal shared with us that he is in the process of securing a hosting position for a popular weekly TV program.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The first thing you need to do is believe that it’s possible no matter what! You can do it!. If you’re having an awful day, a good or great day, you should still believe. That belief is what will take you through to the end. The next thing you need to do is make sure you have a way to fund yourself because creating art isn’t cheap! No matter where in the world you are or what field you are in, there will be things you need! Get a 9-5 if you have to. Use that 9-5 to fund your dream, then quit. Finally and most importantly, put a team together. You don’t need a big team to start can be you & one other person can be you and five others. Make sure you have a team that has your back no matter what. On days when you can’t find your belief, your team will be there to remind you to or, their belief will be so strong it reignites your flame. On days when you don’t have money to put into your craft, someone from your team will be there to help you along; Drake, Bryson Tiller & many other artists have spoken about their friends giving them their last dollar so they could record music or buy a gift for a child. That’s why your team is the most important.
