Meet Yisel Cabrera and Kimberly Garcia of Dreamer Photography in Palm Beach County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yisel Cabrera and Kimberly Garcia.

Yisel and Kimberly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I, Yisel, have always had a passion for photography. I’ve always loved getting my pictures taken, and documenting every moment. My family often calls me “paparazzi”, I’m known for being the one that always takes the pictures. I bought my first DSLR full-frame camera in 2013. It was a Nikon D610, and I used it very seldom, and for personal use. When time passed I always contemplated being a photographer, but my career as a Pharmacist always took precedence. It wasn’t until 2018, when Kim and I had booked to have our Christmas photos taken in October by photographers, that I started to shoot professionally.

We had a conversation about possibly coming together and doing that ourselves, and I had just bought my D800 camera. It was like the universe was conspiring and the stars were aligning for us to start our little photography craft. Kim is an amazing decorator and curator, and I had experience with photography. I had been taking photos for my personal travel blog @yisithedreamer and knew I could deliver quality images to clients. Kim is great with people and she has an eye for the details. We were the dream team. Kim gave me the encouragement and push I needed, we then started “Dreamer Photography” together.

Our logo the waxing crescent moon is there to symbolize our friendship and it’s also a good luck symbol. The stars symbolize believing in yourself, going for your dreams and passions, and reaching for the impossible in photography and in life. Kim has since then started taking photos herself, and now we are both artistically directing our shoots and taking photos. It’s amazing to be doing what we love, having one another, and creating whimsical sets to capture precious moments for our clients. There’s nothing more rewarding than being best friends and having started a business together.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been truly amazing so far. We never knew we could have a successful photography business, and we are so happy we started it. Our clients have become our friends, and many return for more photoshoots with us. We enjoy meeting new families and couples and really care about each of them, we want them to be happy. The main hurdles we have come across has been the weather.

Our photoshoots are often outside and we love natural light, because of this we have to adhere to mother nature’s schedule. We have gotten rained on, drenched. But we always manage to pull through together and make the best of it. Our clients always understand if we have to reschedule. There is also a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes, be it marketing, website maintenance, permits, updating gear, location scouting, blog writing, editing, and countless things that we worry about constantly. All of it is worth it when we see a positive review from our clients or they let us know how much they love our photos.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Dreamer Photography prides itself in a unique style of photography, We have intertwined the old with the new to be characterized for a magically dreamy vintage style that sets us apart. We love to spend time designing our sets and coming up with ideas for our clients to not just have a photoshoot, but an experience they will never forget.

Our mini sessions are always popular and we often have repeat clients. Capturing what someone may deem a regular moment and making it magical through our lens is what we really take pride in. We are so proud of our company not only for being so new and so successful but for having the opportunity to donate our time for important causes. We are proud to have provided our services to “A Prom to Remember” and “Purple Stride”, which are both charities that help fight against the adversities cancer poses.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Palm Beach is a great city to start out as any business, even more so a photography one. There are many places that are aesthetically preferred by photographers. We hope to have a studio in the very near future!

  • Our photoshoots range from $165-$290 depending on client choices.
