Meet Yessenia Cossio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yessenia Cossio.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Yessenia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Since I was 9yrs old, I always expressed an interest for the arts. I wanted to be a singer and sang at local church. And was not able to continue since my mom couldn’t afford it. At the age of 17 in my English class after a scene dialogue about women’s rights, my professor and classmates urged me to try acting and I found my new passion.

I’ve had the opportunity to work as a stunt performer and an actress for television networks such at Nickelodeon, Telemundo Studios, Venevision, USA network, etc.

I’ve also competed in Bodybuilding for the NPC 2 years in a row and I’m a Parkour/Freerunning athlete also certified as a coach.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It def has not been a smooth road. Growing up I was diagnosed with clinical anxiety disorder making everything I work for 10x times more challenging since my emotions always make my goals a struggle. I’ve managed to work through it and overcome many obstacles such as weight loss and depression.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m a union actress with SAG-AFTRA and a professional stunt performer for television. I’m also a lifestyle and fashion model. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and how much I have overcome both mentally and physically. What sets me apart from many individuals is the time I set apart weekly to volunteer at Joe DiMaggio’s children’s hospital and dress up as characters for children with cancer. I’m very involved with my community.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is the journey. There’s no end zone or period in life. Success is obtained with every challenge thrown at you, the fight and how you get back up, is what success means to me. When you finally “Make it” as many say when you look back at how far you’ve come and all you have overcome… the failures, heart breaks, rejections, loss and challenges your thankful for not giving up your journey, one does not realize that the journey is the true meaning of SUCCESS!
