Today we’d like to introduce you to Yarenis Monne.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Yarenis. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Photography has always been something I loved since I was a little girl. My first grade graduation, I was asked what I wanted to be and I said ” A Photographer” ( I have proof of the image, hehe!) I have always had a camera in my hand. I was always the one that was taking pictures of all my friends or family. When I had my daughter that’s when my light bulb turned on. That’s when I decided to take off with the business of photography. It didn’t take me a long time to find what I really loved, my style and where I wanted to take it. A lot of learning, reading, watching YouTube videos and making friends in the industry has allowed me to be as successful, as I am today.
Investing in your business is key to success in my opinion. Learning from the masters of photography is the way I like to learn and with that, I try to set some time and money to the side to learn and meet the most successful photographers in the industry.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When you are the owner of a business a smooth road is not all the time. I have had a lot of bumps and hiccups in my business. I have cried, had self doubt and fought with my insecurities to continue with my journey. I will tell you that what has allowed me to over come these battles and bumps have been my dedication, my passion and love for the art. I have to say that in the few years in business I have had the upmost support from my clients. I am blessed to say that my clients are truly the best. They believe in me and my style. No matter the changes I have made with my business they have stayed with me. They cheer me on. They drive me to continue to master the craft.
My family, without them I wouldn’t be where I would be today. Sometimes, family or friends don’t understand the work you do or how it works but it only takes for them to say, “you can do it or I got your back, go for it.”
In this industry or better said Miami, there are a lot of photographers. Some that have been in business for a while or those that want to just start the business. It’s a very over populated community with photographers, I was so scared to even think how will I stand out among all these amazing photographers. Why would they come to me. I battled that but I stayed true to my self and my passion. I think people see that in me. That’s why I have been able to continue to offer my services and allow people to fall in love with my work.
Please tell us about Monne Photography.
I love that photography allows you to stop the moment in time. I am a fine art-portrait photographer. I specialize in birth documentation, maternity, newborn and child portraits.
I am known for my studio partial nude maternity sessions. I love the way the womans body is different when she is pregnant. I love photography them in the way they probably don’t see themselves. The body is amazing when we are carrying a baby and allowing my client to feel beautiful in front of the camera is my ultimate goal.
Birth stories are probably the most amazing sessions I can ever do. I feel honored always for the parents allowing me to share the room with them while they are about to meet the love of their lives… I get to be in the room with the most newest baby in the world, just for the first few seconds.
Newborn photography is one of sessions that must be captured. I get to capture the smallest details that we tend to forget. They grow so fast, they change every single day. This is probably the best session a parent will ever invest in. I get to cuddle their gorgeous baby while freezing time for them.
As a family, we let our kids grow. I am really big on capturing your family as we grow nothing better than looking back at your images years from now and remembering how you looked.
What sets me apart from others is the drive and passion, I have to capture timeless images. Today, in the digital world we aren’t printing images any more. Everyone gets the digital and keep on a computer, tablet or phone. We have lost the prints, the touch of a heirloom product. Nothing better than grabbing and album with a loved one and sitting there pointing out certain things about the image. I create the memory for you along with creating timeless products to pass on for generations to come.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I would have to start all over, I would invest more in my business. Practice more before I became a business. Mentoring is very important because it teaches you the correct of doing things. Meeting those that have been in the business for much longer and try to soak in all the advice before making the move of charging my clients. With everything, changes happen, but a little bit more on the know of the business is what I would have done differently.
