Vincent, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a french entrepreneur, self-made man and built my first company when I was 18 years old. I’m 45 now! I was living in South of France, Aix en Provence. I have been living in Miami for the past nine years with my wife and our two children. This move changes drastically my entrepreneur life. I owned a marketing and communication agency specialized in the Luxury sector and luxury hospitality for more than 20 years. After extending and stabilizing this company two years ago, I decided to take up a new challenge with launching an alcoholic beverage brand, fun, different in order to reach the huge scalability of the US market distribution. Here is born, ICE DREAMS – a POPTAIL brand. You would ask me what is a poptails? It’s simply the contraction between POPSICLE & COCKTAIL… We can name them freezies or ice pops, you nailed it, it’s a boozy ice bar remembering our childhood but only for grown-up. Innovative, colorful and super tasty, ICE DREAMS is 100% made in the US, with natural flavor and premium spirits.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Let’s be honest, I did all the mistakes an entrepreneur can make! I still do some of course but this learning curve is so important and even necessary. If we refer to ICE DREAMS, it’s the most challenging business I ever have launched at many levels. Two years ago, my knowledge was closed to zero about alcohol business. The US market is very regulated, with a lot of compliance and rules from legal perspective, administrative work, production and distribution… We learnt the hard way, facing delays and unexpected issues for the production as example… but we are still on our foot, and the market feedback from distributors to final consumer is super positive and encouraging… so it’s one of the best rewards for me.
ICE DREAMS – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
ICE DREAMS are Alcoholic poptails. We launched four flavors, PINA COLADA – MOJITO – COSMOPOLITAN and DAIQUIRI STRAWBERRY. Our recipes are made with natural flavors and crafted premium spirits. Our poptails are distributed in Liquor Stores, hotels and certain bars. We sell them through distributors in different states. So our business is to convince distributors to add our brand to their portfolio, and they will sell it to their retailers. Beyond the product itself, we have launched a lifestyle brand. We spent hours to think tank about the branding, the colors and all the brand speech…
This brand is like me and my team, colorful, loving and sweet. This is our main difference, we have created a brand universe that embodies who we are and what we believe in… We are living in a crazy world, we work more and more and often forget ourselves. We want people to take time for them and share ICE DREAMS with their loved ones… our tagline is GRAB & FREEZE THE MOMENT, we help to create good time and memories. If you taste an ICE DREAMS, you will experience it, with a sweet brain freeze feeling!
ICE DREAMS, beyond a very challenging business story, is a wonderful human adventure with my team. This is my main pride and pleasure, working with person I love, who are passionate, committed to the brand and their work and in return, I’m committed to them the same way. With all the efforts, headaches, sweat and passion poured in this project, We are now distributed in 10 states across the USA and should extend soon!!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I do not have a proudest specific moment, not yet !! It’s an addition of several satisfying momentum. When you see your business growing beyond all the problems, when you see your team being happy, that make me proud for sure. Overall I’m proud of what I’m building with the right persons beside me. With ICE DREAMS, I do have also some gratifying moment… when you think about the path, from an idea, a drawing to your product on stores’ shelves in Florida, Alabama, Georgia and others states… it makes me proud as well, and much more when I see the final consumer reaction! Always the same when they see the product: “My God it’s so cute” and when they taste it: “oh shit! it’s f….ing good”, please forgive my french!
