Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Bihet.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Valerie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Originally from Paris, France, I got my start in events working as the Public Relation and Special Events Manager at Disneyland Paris and Public Relation Director at Club Med Paris. In those roles, I produced and managed the events teams for many of the two company’s largest events including Disney’s 5th Anniversary Celebration, Club Med’s 50th Anniversary and The Race and the world-renowned Tour de France.
While at Club Med, the opportunity in the North American offices presented itself and I transferred to the Miami office in 2000 as the Communication, Public Relation, and Partnership Director. During my four years in that role, I produced events and managed large production teams for the brand’s high-profile events and was responsible for all marketing related and press events.
In 2004, I founded VIBE, an award-winning full service production agency, specializing in strategic content creation, corporate events planning and destination management, in Miami, Florida. The company has grown to 8 full time employees employees and has produced to this day more than 1,200 events for Fortune 500 companies throughout the United States, Europe, Mexico, East Asia, and South America.
I received my Master’s degree in Marketing and Business Administration from the renowned Sorbonne University, Paris.
I’m a natural French woman, born leader, driven by passion who can move mountains. A fine food connoisseur. I embrace challenges and thrive on providing creative solutions.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not – juggling motherhood, entrepreneurship, and ups and downs of the market has its ups and downs, but this has kept me very much alive and I know I can brag about the places my work has taken me, the things I have experienced and the wonderful and talented people I have meet.
No day is ever the same…
Events can be incredibly stressful, but what a world to be a part of! Waiting for the event to be confirmed; late minute decisions (note to Valerie: procrastination has a negative connotation; I am assuming you are speaking about the client procrastinating, not the agency) and changes from the Client that hurts the budget; Creating attractive pitches; Changes to the guest list; A late vendor who will make you lose time on your schedule; No-show guests and speakers; Keeping a balanced budget; Planning for the unexpected; Clients underestimating how long things take… etc.
Remember we have the 3rd most stressful job in the world, studies say.
So, you need to make sure to streamline our processes to prevent disorganization, and avoid amorphous goals. It’s what I try to do to put myself and my employees in a position to succeed. And I think we have in a way, after 14 years.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the VIBE AGENCY story. Tell us more about it.
VIBE Agency specializes in corporate event planning and destination management services.
Founded in 2004, the VIBE team has been responsible for executing groundbreaking events, incentive trips, and public relations initiatives throughout North America, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean.
The VIBE team and I have planned, designed, and executed more than 1,200 events for luxury brands and clients like Hermès, Dior, LVMH, Coty, L’Oréal, Microsoft, BMW, McDonald’s, Danone, AXA, Banco Santander, Merck, President Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama (APEC 2015). These have ranged from the most elite, intimate dinner for top executives, to very comprehensive events for up to 500 people. As I mentioned earlier, life is not dull at all!
What is one of our major point of difference is that we are not a 360 degrees agency, we are at 361 degrees and our point of difference is this additional degree: the emotional one that we bring in all we do. This is really important because this “extra”, although inate in our company culture is something that our clients brought up over and over again. When we re-branded the company back in 2017, this 360 degree approach + 1 became a key component of company’s core values.
Tell us about your favorite and least favorites things about our city.
What I like is that Miami allows me to recharge my batteries. I travel so much and have very long days that taking a 2 day weekend in Miami gives me like 4 to 5 days of recharge.
The light, the beaches, the ambiance, the vegetation, atmosphere.
I miss the real energy that you have in NYC, Paris, and London. Here, it’s not the same from a business point of view but the city is booming and has changed over the years. Museums, more restaurants, and even more areas have opened.
Another “negative” although this is changing as we gain credibility, we see clients coming with their local vendors from out-of-state to produce events because they don’t think that we can add value to them. When we meet, ad because of our 360 + 1 approach, we’ve been able to change this. A lot of our business s word of mouth and referrals so we are doing something right!
