Today we’d like to introduce you to Nolan and Asia Cook.
Nolan and Asia, please share your story with us.
I was born and raised a Pittsburgh native, Nolan has always had a passion for all things black and gold, and all things FOOD! Nolan grew up watching his grandmother prepare and cook food for a house full of 10 hungry mouths every night. His grandmother would sit him up on the countertop, and Nolan would eagerly study her techniques and mentally keep notes of her recipes. As he got older and learned to cook for himself his desire to perfect his craft grew stronger! In 2012, he was a proud graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, a very well known hospitality education school that focuses on hospitality management and culinary arts! He had taken his craft to another level! After completing culinary school Nolan worked for several food and service establishments. Continuously packing in knowledge and information on management, sanitation, food temperatures, expenses, and much more! Shaping himself to be the master of his very own business that he dreamt of having. In 2015, Nolan met his wife Asia Cook! He shared with her his dreams of one day having his very own catering business. Asia having a compact background in customer service, management and administration encouraged Nolan to believe in himself and start living his dream NOW! In June of 2016, Cooks Catering was born! The rest is history! One major goal is to be on the Food Network competing against Bobby Flay, and being apart of Guys Groceries Games!!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing in life is a smooth road, you have obstacles you have to face. Sometimes, you have doubt, fear, and the unknown of what may happen. But one thing I was taught that never give up on your dreams because one day everything will turn around for the good. An all your hard work will be out for the world to see. My wife Asia Cook, always instilled in me that the talent I have is unique and one of kind. And with this talent, the world has to see it. Till this day, I always look at this scripture and remember to myself to have faith.
1 Corinthians 16: 13-14
“Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love.”
We’d love to hear more about Cooks Catering.
Nolan Cook and Asia Cook Owners of Cooks Catering!
Nolan and I met and fell in love in 2015, we use to share our dreams and goals with one another all the time. We spoke about how one day we wanted to be successful, pursuing goals that we were truly passionate about! Nolan would cook for me all the time, I could make something good enough to eat, but Nolan could make food that was amazing enough to share with the world! In 2016, I left for two months, dancing my heart out on tour. I had so much support from Nolan while I was away, he was there with me every step of the way. Pursuing a dream on your own is very scary but with the love of your family, it’s so much easier! I promised Nolan that when I came home we would pursue his dreams! One day we sat down and brainstormed, speaking into existence what is now Cooks Catering! We came up with a plan, a business name, a menu, and so much more! We birthed a partnership that has been going strong, with Nolan being the chef and me being an operations manager, financial manager, and the head of our customer service department, everything works perfectly! Nolan and I are a well-oiled machine, we work hard to bring in the business and I get to watch his talent blossom every time he steps foot into a kitchen. We did a great amount of research when we decided to jump into business, but nothing prepared us more than the first event we were hired for. Our good friends hired us to cater the 4 year anniversary for their Salon. The menu was set to serve up to 100 people! We were so excited to break out into the world and take the food that we loved to eat too so many others. Everyone raved about the food, giving us so many compliments, and taking business cards. It was the perfect start to our journey, that was the day Cooks Catering was officially born!
