Today we’d like to introduce you to Mei Jorge.
Mei is the founder and creative mind behind the bilingual style, beauty and travel blog Blame it on Mei. This Cuban-born gal’s passion for fashion dates back to her childhood’s tropical surroundings. She describes her style as feminine, classic and chic; with subtle but undeniable pops of colors.
Her sense of style also stems from her graphic design studies at the University of Miami, and her 10-year career in the same field, where she was part of the design team for one of Miami’s top Fortune 100 companies. During this time, her entrepreneurial spirit was finally triggered after obtaining a Master’s in Business Administration at Florida International University. She later left the corporate world to partake in new journeys – her blog and a new career.
Mei enjoys sharing her knowledge of the blogsphere and has been invited to be a speaker at this year’s We All Grow Summit in Long Beach, California and Hispanicize Week in Downtown, Miami. As another accomplishment, she was recently awarded ‘Best Lifestyle Blogger of 2017’ by South Florida Bloggers.
Her clean and fresh aesthetics has called the attention of several national and international brands. Mei has worked with retailers like Macy’s, Kohl’s, Coach, Saks OFF 5th and Ralph Lauren among others. And in the beauty genre, she has been part of campaigns for Dove, Neutrogena, Gillette Venus, Aveeno and Colleen Rothschild Beauty to name a few. Mei has also worked with a few of the enigmatic South Florida hotel brands like Hilton and The Biltmore and abroad with Secrets Resorts.
Another of Mei’s deep appetite is for traveling. Along with her husband of 10 years, she has visited over 20 countries and through her adventures both abroad and in her hometown city of Miami, she hopes to inspire women to dress and feel better about themselves no matter the price tag, age, lifestyle or personal circumstances.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In life, the road is never smooth and this extends to the influencer/content creator world. There are many obstacles to overcome, but there are also many rewards that outweigh the struggle. Perseverance, dedication and the desire to stay true to your mission will give the strength to push on.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Blame it on Mei – what should we know?
I love style! I created my blog, Blame it on Mei, in hopes of inspiring women to dress and feel better about themselves no matter the price tag, age, lifestyle or personal circumstances. I want women to not feel intimidated by clothes and give a trend a try even if they think it’s not for them. I am also a personal stylist and have such fun with my clients, especially the moment when they try on a new dress and feel like a million bucks.
The clean and fresh aesthetics of my brand has called the attention of several national and international brands. I have worked with retailers like Macy’s, Kohl’s, Coach, Saks OFF 5th and Ralph Lauren among others.
I also enjoy sharing my knowledge of the blogosphere and have been invited to be a speaker at this year’s We All Grow Summit in California and Hispanicize Week in Miami. As another accomplishment, I was recently awarded ‘Best Lifestyle Blogger of 2017’ by South Florida Bloggers, the Miami chapter of The Blogger Union.

Apps that have helped me incredibly are: Dropbox (sync all my files between phone and laptop), Snapseed (love it to enhance images on the phone), Lightroom (#1 for editing raw photos taken with a camera), UNUM (helps me to visually plan-out my Instagram feed), Bitly (is a link shortener) and Over (allows me to add text and graphics to images on my phone, perfect for Instagram stories).
