Today we’d like to introduce you to Tika Van Den Hurk.
Tika Van Den Hurk is a native of Montreal who lived and worked in the Toronto area for 20 years. Splitting her time between the US and Canada, Tika began investing in Florida real estate in 2009 and eventually made the move to Florida followed by a move into professional real estate, a permanent one and has earned the title of the Director of Luxury Sales with Douglas Elliman. Today, she has settled with her family in Fort Lauderdale, where she has honed her expertise in the area’s luxury real estate market.
With 15 years of experience buying, selling and remodeling homes in both Canada and the US, Tika is a skilled negotiator with a firm grasp of all facets of the real estate transaction and the needs of both international and local buyers. She is well versed in the complexities faced by foreign buyers, and skillfully takes her clients from initial showing to closing with smooth negotiating and excellent client service, always ensuring their expectations are met – and surpassed.
Tika concentrates her efforts in the areas that she knows so well including Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale Beach, Harbor Beach, Lauderdale by the Sea, Las Olas Isles, Galt Ocean Drive, Coral Ridge and Victoria Park. She is always available for her clients and consistently finds properties that have great value in the best areas that match her client’s needs.
Prior to obtaining her real estate license, Tika earned her Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Marketing at Concordia University. Ambitious and personable, Tika is as enthusiastic about her career as she is about her health, well-being and her community.

It was a challenge at first breaking into a new market with a lot of other established real estate agents.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I deliver excellent customer and personal service along with in-depth market knowledge to assist my clients in finding the right property for their needs and budget. Buying or selling a home is often larger than the transaction itself, I am available in any way I can to support my clients during and after this transition.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Fort Lauderdale for all the water and accessibility to waterfront living with 56 miles on navigable waterways. I dislike traffic.
