Today we’d like to introduce you to Thesha Lashley.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Thesha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well I’m in love with my culture and carnival. I am from Trinidad and Tobago. I attend as many carnivals that I can and I also wear the Queen costume each time which is one of the biggest pieces I’ve been doing this for about nine years now and that’s how I met my business partner Shu at one of the Caribbean carnival events. He always represented rbg with the big flag every time he paraded a few years past and he decided to join rbg with carnival so seeing that I’m the Queen of carnival, costume Designer, event planner and carnival mentor we decided to collaborate and came up with RBGcarnival ❤️🖤💚 which has become very successful joining two amazing groups together. So now here we are spreading our brand too as many carnivals and parades as possible encouraging togetherness love, beauty and fun.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to greatness is never smooth but always worth it. We have our ups and downs at times when dealing with costumes. It’ can get challenging at times, but we always figure it out. Also having 1000 things going on at once can be a tad bit overwhelming but I enjoy the experience.
RBGcarnival – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
RBGcarnival is a carnival parade business. I Specialize in the designing of the costumes customers service coordinating our events, sometimes creating of the costumes and most importantly representing us as Queen wearing the very large pieces I am mostly proud that we brought the rbg part into carnivals and parades it’s a very important part of history that we can put glitter and feathers with and be creative while teaching and sharing knowledge what sets us apart is we are not just in Miami we take part in all parades and carnivals, for example, gasprilla parade in Tampa Florida Dr. Martin jr parade and TAMPA/Orlando Caribbean festivals just too name a few.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is the feeling when you know you gave your all through it all, no matter what obstacles came your way watching your hard work at the end seeing all the smiles from your happy customers. Once my clients are satisfied and happy, that makes me very successful because, without them, we won’t have parades and carnivals.
