Meet Steven Alvarez of Deadcenter in Wynwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Alvarez.

Steven, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My roommate and I share a huge passion for music events/festivals and music, in general. With the recent news that I would be laid off from work, we decided to launch a startup to throw our own events back in October of 2018. Since I have a background of 10+ years in video production, it made sense that we would also include broadcasting services to our events.

Our niche quickly became the ability to go live with our events directly on our website. We later decided to create a weekly event out of our studio, aka our house, to live-stream our friends and local DJ’s on Saturday nights. These events then blossomed into an underground house party that was live-streamed over our website every week and still goes on to this day. We are currently booked for the next two months with some availability for October.

We’ve also successfully wrapped up our weekly Tuesday nights with The Electric Pickle, which was also recorded and broadcast live from our website. We are excited to launch a newly updated site to host all of our content, including the last Tuesday nights to one of Miami’s biggest underground clubs, The Electric Pickle.

Our live-streaming platform allows our local community to be heard like no other.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of our difficulties were identifying the companies business plan and goals. Originally, we wanted to just throw events, but by the time we finished our first event, we realized our live-streaming production service was what we wanted to focus on. This created a minor pivot within the company. Ironically, the original domain’s that we’re acquired complemented the companies new pivot to focus on live-streaming (

Please tell us more about your work, what do you specialize in and most proud of.
I’m the co-founder & creative director for Deadcenter Creatives. I specialize in video production, photography, graphic design, social media marketing, and several other skills. I’m recognized as the creative head for Deadcenter, a position I try to live up to each day.

I’m proud to say that my company, Deadcenter, provides a live-platform on our website to promote artists at no cost to them or the viewer. We also handle all the marketing for the live-streamed event. We’ve created a hub for artists to feel welcome without the intimidation of a venue owner, allowing them to play the music they want and even experiment with new sounds. I strongly believe we’re helping our community by creating this outlet and I’m excited to see it grow.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is being able to do what you love while generating the revenue needed to continue doing what you love.

If we can organize successful events that generate a profit with the talent that we promote on our live-stream, we could showcase a successful workflow where everyone is benefiting.
