Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Sarsfield.
Steve, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I wanted to do something that would help people and not become monotonous, so I studied Mass Communication and TV production at Towson University in MD. Upon graduation, my first job was shooting high end weddings in NJ. This taught me a lot about using the camera spontaneously. I was soon working at Comcast and then CNBC, but hated winter and fled to Florida where I began a job with an independent video company owned by one of the original directors of Sesame Street. Here I learned a lot about editing, timing and how to run a business. In 2010 I had the opportunity to open South Florida Video Productions.
Has it been a smooth road?
Opening SFLVP in 2010, lots of people said I was crazy to open a business with the economic state. I made sure I had enough money to pay for all expenses for a year. It has been very tight at times. One of my greatest hurdles is what I call reaching my “No” phase. Prior to that I was obliged to take every job that came my way. After, I realized to pay attention to my instincts and back away from jobs that raised red flags during the initial introduction.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with South Florida Video Productions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
South Florida Video Productions produces marketing videos which help sell products and services. We also create ancillary video products such as internal training videos, product demos and how-to videos.
Most clients have an unsure concept and are somewhat apprehensive when beginning a video project. I take pride in helping establish their concept, clarifying their audience and needs, creating a compelling script and storyboard and finally, delivering a video project that achieves their goals.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The ocean is definitely the best thing for me about South Florida. The horrible traffic and lack of quality public transportation is the worst.
