Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Rodgerson and Nando Saldanha.
Veronica and Nando, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Compared to other areas of the US, South Florida is still lacking healthy food restaurants – especially that TASTE GOOD! We opened our first Sproutz quick service restaurant in 2017 in Sunny Isles Beach to an overwhelming response. We realized quickly that we were on to something – healthy, delicious food doesn’t have to be complicated, and there are thousands of others in our community who are dedicated to a healthy, active lifestyle just like us. Fast food doesn’t have to mean unhealthy food and we have worked hard to scale our business while keeping this in mind.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The human element (customers, employees, vendors) is always so unpredictable and you can never be prepared to handle hundreds of different personalities on a daily basis. Creating an environment where our team and patrons feel welcome, equal, and valued has been a focus since day one – this takes a lot of listening, humility and patience. Being open to constructive criticism can also be challenging, and you must accept feedback as an opportunity to reflect and/or improve.

We specialize in FOOD FOR ALL. Whether you are gluten intolerant, vegan, diabetic, keto, paleo, pescatarian – or just looking for a filling, tasty meal – Sproutz menu has been thoughtfully crafted for all types of diners. From unique dishes like our cauliflower pasta to our homemade pumpkin soup or our sesame seared tuna poke bowls – there is a reason why over 70% of our business is repeating.
We are proud to have an excellent team and work culture, with a focus on customer engagement & education. We are known for our love of sampling! Walk-in and receive a smile and a sample of one of our many homemade specialties like our hearty lentil soup, fresh tuna salad or our proprietary acai blend. A cashless environment with self-checkout kiosks allows Sproutz customers to quickly place orders and enjoy short wait times for handcrafted fresh food.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
When people think about Sproutz, they remember the delicious food – but we want people to also remember what they have LEARNED about that food. As the Sproutz brand grows and opens our second location now in Brickell, we want to focus more on educating our customers on the health benefits of what they are eating – and why they should eat more of it! (i.e. What is vitamin C good for? Quinoa vs. rice? Why is the acai berry a superfood?)
